I’m a working mom through and through.  I love my job, I love being recognized in public for what I do (Words of Affirmation is my love language) and I love that I can be actively involved in the community while doing my job instead of it creeping into my family time.  If someone were to ask me “What type of mom are you?” I would say “A working mom” but that’s not really a type of mom.   I found this article on Radical Parenting and I thought it would be interesting for us to evaluate the different types out there and see where we fit.

1. The Sponge Mom: These moms want to spend every second with their kiddos and worry about them constantly because they want to share in every pain and joy in life.  When your babies are upset, you’re upset …When they’ve had a great day, you’ve had a great day (even if yours was really crummy!)

2. The Rock Mom: Are you the strong silent type? You are always there for your kiddos, but you’re not going to get mushy-gushy when they leave for camp.  If yes, then you are a rock.

3. The Controller Mom: Controller moms, also known as helicopter moms, because they constantly hover around what their offspring are doing.  They are not as emotional as sponges, but need to know everything their little ones are doing down to the smallest detail.

4. The Easy Peasy Mom: Easy peasy moms are very laid back.  Sometimes the kids are reminding you to leave for school and rules around your household can be lax.

5. The Friend Mom: Do you watch Gossip Girl with your kiddo because you like it or because of the censors?  Do you love hanging out with their friends and frequently ask to borrow their clothes?

I’m sure there are conflicting articles out there but I felt like this was a pretty good grouping…so what do you think?  I’m a Rock Mom…for sure…how about you?

  1. I’m definitely a combo between rock and controller…my counterpart (Vanessa) would beg to differ that I’m all controller!
