Did you look at the clock today, see that it was 2 pm, and realize you hadn’t brushed your teeth yet? Yeah that happens to me all the time! I know it sounds gross and my non-mommy friends didn’t understand it until they became mommies, but seriously, it’s so easy to do! So if we barely have time to brush our teeth when we are new moms, how on earth do we manage to pull ourselves together and actually apply makeup?! Well… if you’re me you are driving with one knee, the mirror flipped down, the kid is crying in the backseat, all while curling your eyelashes, powdering your nose, and rushing to the doctor’s appointment.

About 4 or 5 months in to being a mom I told MY mom I desperately needed to find a new way to put my makeup on and fast, because I was starting to lose any amount of confidence I had walking into places without my face! I’ve had a lot of makeup lessons from the GREAT, Adrienne Pitkin from Makeup by Adrienne, but how on earth do you translate professional makeup application to being just an average mommy needing to look half way decent for when you pass by a mirror in the house? You do what I did and create a super quick regimen! So here are my tips to looking FAB in 5 minutes! And please remember, I learned everything I know about makeup application from Adrienne so thanks to her I’m able to share with my fellow mommies! I have to give credit where credit is due 🙂

1. Switch to a tinted moisturizer if you’re not already there—I use Smashbox— Squeeze it on your fingers and rub it on your face just like moisturizer. It gives you a more even skin tone and allows you to look refreshed and takes less than 30 seconds to apply.

2. Highlighter— A highlighter/concealer for under the eyes or anywhere else you want to be brightened. I like the kind that come in a click pen, because they are that much faster to apply, but I’m currently out to the one photographed below is in a screw lid. Either way, a highlighter (has more white than the traditional concealer) allows you to look bright eyed and bushy tailed even if you just woke up! This product is seriously amazing and a MUST have for not just mommies, but all women!3. Blush—Pick a color that works for you, but I’ve always found that a light pink borderline peach or bronze looks best. All face shapes are different, but always make sure you put a tad on your nose. I don’t know what it is about blush on the nose, but it forces you to look ALIVE and energetic! And I say “The More The Merrier” when it comes to blush! Adrienne may disagree with this one, but so many women don’t use enough!

4. Eye Shadow—I use an eggshell color all over—I only use this so that my eyelids are less oily and that Step #5 doesn’t come off.

5. Eyeliner—I highly recommend eyeliner in powder form. It is super fast to put on, if you make a mistake it’s less noticeable, and it looks softer for an everyday look. I use either chocolate brown or Charcoal and I apply it with an eyeliner brush. It literally takes me 45 seconds to put on. Everyone is different, but I like my eyeliner on both the top and the bottom eyelids.

6. Eyelash Curler—I don’t care who you are or what your eyelashes look like, but you should ALWAYS curl your eyelashes! They will appear instantly longer!

7. Mascara—I use Smashbox, but another good and affordable one is Loreal Voluminous. Mascara is the key to looking awake and refreshed so slather it on making sure not to clump your eyelashes together. Nobody should have spider lashes.

8. Lips—Personally I don’t like to look like I’m wearing lip stick so I go with a super nude/natural look. Try Chanel…They are a little pricey, but I have over 20 colors and love them all! It’s not super glossy, it gives you a natural color, and brightens you up!

Voila, you look fabulous and fresh in less than 5 minutes (hopefully)…well actually, I tested my time this morning and I did it in less than 4 minutes! Either way, it shouldn’t take you long to achieve an awake look if you follow these steps.
