I was first introduced to Farmers Market two Thanksgivings ago while on vacation in Maryland.  I loved seeing the local vendors and also loved the prices.  When we lived in Dallas, the Dallas Famers Market was just too far for us to make it a family trip and so we never got to take advantage of the local freshness.

Now that we’re Austinites…we’re back in love with Farmers Markets!  They are EVERYWHERE! All of those alphabet letters are local farmers markets!  And I’m sure there are more, those are just the ones that popped up when I googled in “famers markets in Austin”

We frequent Cedar Park Farm 2 Market off 620 behind Lakeline Mall. It is open on Saturdays from 9am to 1 pm.  We’ve found every fruit and veggie you can imagine and at great prices.  Because of Cedar Park Farm 2 Market, we discovered some great affordable and organic raspberries and it turns out our sweet daughter cannot get enough raspberries! See mess below!

We’re glad we’re introducing her to fruits and veggies at a young age and hopefully she will continue to love healthy things.  Even if you’re not looking for tons of fruits and veggies, going to the local Farmers Market can be a fun family outing full of teachable moments (think colors, texture, cultures, etc.) and packed with people so your kiddos might make some friends!
