Austin’s Family Friendly New Year Celebration

Details: Austinites can look forward once again to a family-friendly festival to ring in the new year. The City of Austin is building on the success of last year’s New Year’s Eve event with this year’s program featuring more entertainment and an impressive line-up of live music. Austin’s New Year, a free community event will be from 5 to 10 p.m. Dec. 31 with two stages of entertainment, a film festival buffet, and a culminating special show. The band line-up includes Vitera, Joe McDermott, Big Don, Aftermath and Carolyn Wonderland with special guest Miss Lavelle White. The theme is A.N.Y. – Any one. Any dream. Anything’s possible.
Polar Bear Splash at Barton Springs Pool

Details: The New Year’s Day Polar Bear Splash at Barton Springs Pool is once again on the Save Our Springs Alliance calendar for January 1, 2012. Jump time is at 9 a.m., so be sure to arrive early – you don’t want to miss the communal leap into the frigid water!
