Best Baby Name in Austin Contest

Announcing the “Best Baby Name in Austin” contest!

I got this idea off of Huffington Post. They are hosting a Best Baby Name of 2011 Bracket and I thought…hey….we can do that! So, we are!

1.) How to Enter: Between January 16-20, comment on the blog below with your child’s/children’s name(s). You can enter first name only or first and middle but you can only enter TWO NAMES MAX. Each name will be entered separately, but if you enter first and middle your odds of winning are greater. You can also enter on the Facebook post regarding the contest.

Example: Susie in Round Rock has three kids but she can only enter two names. It can be the first of two of them or the middle of two or the first and middle, whatever…just two names. Mary in Cedar Park only has one kid with no middle name, she can enter the one name and a back up name if she wants or just the first name. Make sense?

2.) How it Works: Once we receive all of the names, we will enter them into a bracket in no particular order. We will open it up to our readers to vote and go from there. At the end of each day, names will be eliminated. Example: Caroline vs Grace and Faith vs. Elisa and Lincoln vs. Cody and Aidan vs. Scott will be options on day one and then on day two, Grace vs. Faith and Cody vs. Aidan…does that make sense? I promise it will once it’s in bracket format.

Preliminarily voting will be boys versus boys and girls versus girls but toward the end there can only be one winner!

Voting will begin on Monday, January 23 and the Best Baby Name in Austin will be revealed on Friday, January 27.

3.) What are the prizes: Oh you know us, we love to gather awesome goodies for our moms! Prize package will include: the opportunity to guest blog, gift card to Uchi, gift card to one of the restaurants we’re reviewing Friday (hint! hint!) and a netanik saucer!

FAQs:

What if my daughter has the same name as their daughter? Great question. The name “Caroline” will only be entered once. If Caroline makes it to the final rounds and there are three kids with that name–we will host a separarte poll for those three mom’s/kids with the whole name. Example: Caroline Grace vs Caroline Marie vs Caroline Elizabeth and proceed from there. If you have a child named John and a child named Apple…please enter Apple…it will make things easier =)

Will baby name meanings be included? No, we are anticipating the receipt of several names and the bracket would look overcrowded. If you think your name meaning will make the difference for you, my recommendation is to write out the meaning when you enter the name. Those comments are public.
