Were you “ready” to become a parent? Was it planned?
Our first pregnancy was not planned and was not ideal timing, however I wanted nothing more in life to be a mother so I adjusted to the idea very well and was very much ready when he got here! It was the easiest thing I have ever done.
Favorite place in Austin to spend the day with the family?
We like to be outdoors and love the Brushy Creek Sports Park, we go there to jog/ride bikes, play on the playground (my kids call it the Spider Web Park), and play baseball. We also love taking our kids to the movies and just introduced them to Alamo…it was a hit!
Favorite kid friendly restaurant?
Waterloo.  They have several locations around Austin.
Favorite date spot?
We eat sushi on 99% of our dates and love Mikado, it is our regular. We just tried Takara and Uchi not too long ago and LOVED them both. We also like finding random quaint bars to enjoy a couple glasses of wine, especially if we splurge and get a hotel room.
Biggest guilty pleasure?
Snuggling on the couch with my Hubs while watching TV or reading a book after a long day is the best, but I also love pedicures and shopping 😉
If you could snap your fingers and talk to your pre-married/mommy self, what would you say?
I would have taught myself how to be smart financially and take care of our credit, it took my husband and I a few years to figure it out. The only perk is that we haven’t ever had a single credit card and are grateful for that!
What is the beauty product you never leave home without?
Well assuming I already have on mascara I never leave home without lip gloss!
What is the baby product you never leave home without (other than diapers and wipes)?
Until recently we always took Porter’s favorite blanket with us everywhere and still do most of the time, his big brother Garner was the same way. I also usually have a bouncy ball or Hot Wheels in my purse.
What 3 things do you have with you at all times?
Cell phone, wallet, and probably hand sanitizer
What is one thing you could work on your relationship now that you have kids?
We need to take the time to take more out of town weekend trips. We have mastered the art of having dates in Austin. We go on dates quite frequently, even over night dates…Woohoo! We just need to make more time to go out of town together. Our first out of town trip away from our kids was last August….we have been together almost 10 years…do the math people! Must get out of town, soon!
What is your hardest parenting moment so far?
Hands down it was trying to decide which schools I wanted my boys to go to, which also depended on what neighborhood we moved to. I knew which district I wanted, but I spent a lot of time researching which exact school and I was very picky! The school was more important than certain features in a house, but we ended up getting exactly what we wanted with the school, neighborhood, and house.
What is your biggest surprise so far?
I see similar traits in all three of my boys, but they are all so very different and I freaking LOVE it. I mean, of course I think they are the most handsome things I have ever seen, but their personalities amaze me. Each trait that is their own makes me love them even more which I am not sure how that is even possible!
Where do you see your family in 5 years?
I see us done adding members ;), marking trips off our travel list, enjoying a lot of America’s favorite pastime…baseball, enjoying the simple things in life like playing in the mud and being outdoors!
More kids? Will you try again?
We are in the process of adopting a baby girl…just have to find her and don’t know when that will be. At that point our family will be complete…at least that is how we have it planned in our heads. Surprises always happen, but 4 is our number.
