This afternoon our family is embarking on a 9+ hour road trip to Bentonville, AR, then to Tulsa, OK to watch my brother in law graduate from Law School {HIP HIP HOORAY}, and then back to Austin, TX. This will be our first road trip of this magnitude and the one thing we knew we couldn’t leave home without was our Philips Portable DVD Player.

I received a hand me down DVD player from my sister when I was pregnant and it crashed out on us {it was at least 5 years old} when Lincoln was about 8 months old. My sister felt bad so for Lincoln’s 1 year birthday she bought us a shiny new DVD player for the car. Thank you, Lisa!! I realize that some cars come with the DVD player already in the head rest, but I’m not fond of those as they can’t be taken out and therefore, your kiddo expects them on all the time. With my portable DVD player I get to pick and choose when Lincoln watches movies in the car.

This bad boy saved my and Vanessa’s life when we road tripped it to McAllen last month, it has given me and Wesley new-found sanity on the airplane with Lincoln on the way to Wisconsin, and we hope it will maintain our peace and quiet on the way to Bentonville tonight.

Whether you believe in television for your child or not, this is one item we couldn’t live without and it has been nice to have on hand in the event of a complete meltdown.

Wish us luck today on our excursion!
