Father’s Day is in T-48 hours! What are the big plans?  We’ve already talked about some fun and thoughtful DIY gifts here but now what the heck do you do with the day?

Well, I know my husband would like to sleep in and watch sports, but that’s not fun for me (hee! hee!) so I’ve compiled a list of some family friendly activities for the D-Day…as in Dad Day.

Family Brunch–Sounds like a no brainer, huh?  Mom doesn’t want to cook…dad doesn’t want to cook…the kids are too young to cook, so let’s go out to eat!  Did you know that Father’s Day is a less popular day for restaurants than Mother’s Day, weird huh? Anyway, a family brunch is a great way to start the day.  We have reservations at Zax Restaurant and Bar that we made using Open Table.  If you don’t have the Open Table app on your iPhone, I strongly recommend it.  It’s the best app ever for restaurant hunting and instant reservations. You can also access the site from your computer if you want to plan ahead.

You're seeing a list of Italian restaurants that have an 11:00 am reservation on Father's Day available...cool!

Go Enjoy Austin! This is something the Barry family certainly doesn’t do enough of.  I mean…we get around…but we do the same things we would do in Austin, Dallas or Lubbock…nothing Austiny.  Well…thanks to Austin360.com I found out about a Father’s Day Concert that sounds like a good time.  It’s not Journey or anything, but I think the idea of hanging out with the family at a park drinking a beer is sure to make any man smile from ear to ear.

Picnic Time!

Give the man a break!  This is perhaps what my husband would want the most. Don’t ask him to do any of his pending to-do list, let him watch sports (I think there is something with basketball going on these days) and just hand him beer and chips all day long.

A Little Something Like This

What do you have planned?

  1. The fathers day concert description cracks me up… Nothing would please Vin more than some Broadway show tunes! Lol. Whatever. It’s beer in a park!
