Father’s Day has come and gone and with all the chatter around what you should make your man to where you should take your man, we thought we’d share what actually went down.

Father’s Day pretty much stunk last year… well not really it was just completely non-existent. You see Father’s Day last year fell on the day after our wedding and we were dashing off to Maui for our honeymoon. So this year I wanted to do something special for Wesley and make up for his lack up Father’s Day last year.
Cory Morrow is one of our favorite Texas Country music artists and when Vanessa told me he was playing at Cedar Street downtown, I knew I had to scoop up some tickets for my man. I won’t go into how my surprise turned into a disaster {I would need an entirely separate blog}, but let’s just say the surprise was ruined by my husband. Either way, we still had a fantastic night… we started at Sullivan’s for dinner and made our way to the show. We stayed out way past our 10 pm bed time until 1 am and overall, had a great night!
Fast forward to actual Father’s Day, when I started getting sick so once again, Father’s Day kind of stunk. I made Wesley chocolate chip pancakes, we went to Home Depot, had lunch at Thunder Cloud Subs, and I pretty much whined all day about how crappy I felt. Wesley said he felt like he had two babies to take care of. So once again, Father’s Day=Fail. Here’s {hold up your glass} to a shot at Father’s Day 2013 being a success.

Wal-Mart may be the land of obese zombies who make seriously unfortunate wardrobe choices but it also is the home of cheap and easy Father’s Day gifts that are ready in just one hour– phew! For the past two years, “V” has made her Dad a photo book full of pictures of just the two of them. Silly moments, serious moments, at the zoo or in pajamas, these pictures celebrate her growth as a little person and his growth as a Dad over his first and now second year of fatherhood. Here’s hoping it is a tradition she can lovingly carry on for him herself someday. Along with the crepes we had for lunch at Cafe Crepe downtown— well, that part was for me. 😉
