Thomas is coming to Central Texas! Everybody’s favorite train engine pulls into the Austin & Texas Central Railroad in Burnet, TX this weekend, September 29 & 30.

I don’t know what it is about toddlers and trains but Lucy absolutely adores Thomas. She has been playing her Thomas drum while demanding we watch Thomas & Friends: Splish! Splash! Splosh! over and over again. I can only imagine how ecstatic she’ll be once she sees him “in-person.”

This stop on the Day Out with Thomas: Mystery on the Rails Tour will feature all kinds of Thomas-related activities including arts & crafts, temporary tattoos, videos, live music, train tables and coloring stations. Rumor has it, Sir Topham Hatt himself will even be there to meet and greet all of his fans. Cap it off with a 25-minute ride on the 15-ton replica of the superstar himself.

Thomas will depart every 45 minutes, rain or shine, with departure times at 8:30 am through 5:40 pm each day. Tickets are $18 plus tax for ages two and are on sale now by calling toll-free 866.468.7630 or logging onto www.ticketweb.com/thomas.html.

For more information and directions, contact the Austin Steam Train Association at 512.477.8468 or visit www.austinsteamtrain.org.

Full disclosure: Austin Moms Blog was given tickets in exchange for writing an event preview. But this mom would have gone anyway, even if Thomas the Tank Engine doesn’t have a bar car. Wink, wink.
