When it comes to decorating for a holiday I would most likely be considered an over-achiever. In the last couple of years though for some reason, I swapped out decorating for Valentine’s and Easter for Fall and Thanksgiving. I never really got into decorating for fall I think because I was too excited for Christmas. Some how I developed a new love for Thanksgiving and the decor, so a few years ago I got crazy about it! Last year I made a wreath for the door and a flower arrangement that now sits on my “formal” dining room table. I also love any craft that involves a pumpkin…real or fake!

Here are a couple of my crafts and I am sorry that I do not have before and after or step by step pics…these are old crafts that I still LOVE…they are easy though 🙂

Fall Front Door Wreath:

I bought a grapevine wreath at Hobby Lobby for around $4, and a TON of fall themed craft picks…all in various prices and all half off. I have no idea how much I spent, I know it was a lot, but I wanted a very busy and full wreath. I could be done cheaper.

I just picked out the picks that I liked best and went to town hot gluing those bad boys to my wreath. The wreath is about 14″, so it took a lot to fill it up and not have blank spaces. Once I had the picks glued in place, I trimmed the end of the pick with floral cutters so they wouldn’t stick out of the back.

I used ribbon to tie it on the door hook. Start to finish it only took me a little over an hour to do.  It was easy as pie to make…all is takes is your creativity and even if you don’t have much this is still super easy!

Easy Peasy Lanterns:

To go with my wreath and multiple flower pots on my front porch {flower pots not pictured because most are not looking so hot..they were neglected oops} are my lanterns that I switch out the insides based on holiday/seasons. I also bought them at Hobby Lobby and don’t remember how much, just know it was half off :)I filled them with a bag of coated pumpkins and gourds from H.E.B that I bought for $5 and a few pine cones that I had left over from last Christmas.

Vinyl Pumpkin:

This one is also so super easy….I bought a faux pumpkin at where else…Hobby Lobby for $12 (it was half off…those bad boys aren’t cheap) and a vinyl sticker from Very Jane for $4….I literally applied the vinyl sticker to the pumpkin and smoothed out any lines and creases. Voila! I bought extras to make for next year too, but they are already packed away with the Halloween goods.

Fall Floral Arrangement:

This is my favorite floral arrangement that I have ever made, I love it! When I decide to make a floral arrangement I don’t put too much thought into it. I just go to duh duh duh..you guessed it – Hobby Lobby and pick out random flowers, sticks, berries, whatever my heart desires and throw it together. I don’t like fake flowers that look too fake and I like to add random non floral pieces too. I also like a lot of texture and different heights on arrangements, I think that is part of what makes it more appealing.

When picking out pieces I buy either 1, 2, or 3 of them…this arrangement doesn’t look the same on each side, it is very random.

Some of the pieces I bought for it were a little pricey even though I got it all half price. I still probably paid $40ish for everything including the vase and filler. I did use a small piece of craft foam to keep things in place then used the filler to cover it up.

After fall I just put it in the top of a storage closet in the house so that it doesn’t get dusty and gross in the garage. I just made it last year, but it hasn’t required any major cleaning…just light dusting.

Okay, I hope you are inspired to get your craft on 😉 I am really enjoying my few pieces of fall decor, but I am holding out for Christmas this year. I plan on going all out. Wait, I don’t think I have ever not gone all out, but I plan on doing even more this year. Maybe I will have a festive Christmas post next month!

What decor do you use and/or make for fall and Thanksgiving?

  1. This is so beautiful! I’ve been wanting to make a fall wreath for some time now but a) I can’t seem to get myself to the craft store and b) I don’t have a hot glue gun. Really, these are just excuses and I need to get on it. This post is great motivation! I love it!
