Keeping up with the AMB contributor trend, here are my holiday obsessions in no particular order:

A Christmas Story: I love everything about this movie from the angry dad to the weary mom. And what kid hasn’t wanted to see if their tongue would actually stick to a frozen flag pole? Also, there’s the lamp. I own one. Actually, I own two.

One at home; one at work

Relentlessly quoting National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. “Little full, lotta sap.” “Why is the carpet wet, TODD? I don’t know, MARGO!” “Can I refill your eggnog Eddie? Get you something to eat? Drive you out to the middle of the desert and leave you for dead?”

I could go on…

Frosty Friends Hallmark Ornaments I have at least 15 of them but I wish I’d been more diligent about collecting them.

Peppermint Bark. Salted Caramel Bark. Peanut Butter Bark. Any kind of bark.

Holiday light displays. The bigger, the better.

Gingerbread lattes.

Holiday gift-exchanges among girlfriends. Maybe I can Skype into them in Reno?

My weird collection of singing and dancing animals that started out as a joke but seems to be getting bigger.

Not all of them are shown.

Christmas socks

Festivus

Keeping up with my fellow Austin moms on their obsessions.

Daily conversations with Santa about whether Lucy should be on the naughty or nice list this year.

A Charlie Brown Christmas

Looking forward to new traditions like the Austin Trail of Lights, Brentwood’s Luminarias and the Second Street District windows. Also, any light display that requires a radio and a donation.

Holiday Lounge: The Christmas Remixes

This is barely scratching the surface. I am desperate need of a festive holiday sweater so look for that to be one of next year’s obsessions.

What are you obsessed with this holiday season? And where should I go to see some killer holiday light displays?
