BirthdayHaving 3 little boys ages 9, 7, and almost 4 means I have had my fair share of planning birthday parties, coincidentally one of my favorite things to do! I can go overboard with planning a party real quick. Today, however I will share some great spots around Austin to plan a party for your little tot. They don’t need much, pretty simple pleases the little ones. Here is my list of top 5 spots around Austin:

1. A personal fave that we have used is Inflatable Wonderland inside Lakeline Mall {there are many other jumpy places that we have been to with parties that have been great as well such as Loco-Motion and Pump It Up} but Inflatable Wonderland has just always been a favorite of ours. We are in Cedar Park, so it is close and the staff has always been so friendly. We are quite the “regulars” there for just good ol play dates as well plus when we have parties at home I rent jumpy houses from them. I clearly love giving them our business! There are plenty of bouncy houses for the kiddos to jump in, plus a small play area for the smaller tots. Multiple party tables for snacks and cake. When you leave the little birthday girl/boy is sure to be worn out!

2. Build a Bear is so much fun for small children…if you have a child under 5 and have not been to Build a Bear that is shocking! I think for kids 5 and under it is great for boys and girls. After 5 it seems to be more girls than boys. I don’t want to know how many “friends” we have made at Build a Bear over the last 9 years! We have been to 1 birthday party there and my sons LOVED it!!! All of the kids had a blast, it is easy peasy! Birthday packages start at just $10 per guest.

3. Gymboree parties (or Little Gym) are a lot of fun for kids younger than five because its a private, enclosed area that is sure to be age-appropriate. These facilities are also located throughout the Austin area, so that’s a win, too. However, if you opt to have a Gymboree (Little Gym) party, be prepared for the cost. The facilities alone will cost you a pretty penny and don’t forget about all the other fun stuff that goes into planning a big shebang.

4. Austin Children’s Museum is a fabulous place to have a birthday party. We have been to a few and my kids have always had a great time, at all ages.  There are many different party packages ranging from small parties to private parties. {They are moving to a new location, so parties are not available from September 1 through January 2014} Each package comes with a party assistant to help your event run as smoothly as possible. Since their exhibits change the scenery and activities are always different! Of course, members get a discount too.

5. I am a HUGE fan of parties at home for the younger kiddos. There are endless possibilities and while some view it as more stress and work because you want your house to be at its best I think it is easier because you get to just stay home. Sure there is a lot of clean up, but you don’t have to haul everything from here to there and back again. Three out of 4 birthday parties for my youngest have been at our house, the most recent one did not go as planned due to the weather but it still turned out great. I had plans to rent a jumpy house, bought 12 giant bouncy balls and hoola hoops for the kids to be plenty occupied in the back yard. Well it POURED the whole night before and morning of, so we cancelled outdoor activities and let the kids run loose in our house playing with toys. We ate and open gifts, then did the piñata, it was so much fun! AMB bloggers Vanessa and Allison threw their littles a shared party at Allison’s home last year with a pony ride/petting zoo rental. You can also get a balloon artist, face painter, or clown to spice it up too! Home parties can be all out or super simple….AMB blogger Katie says her kids always had parties at home for younger ages, they get to invite the number of kids as their age. That keeps guests and gifts at a minimum – so simple! {Good for Katie because I cannot do that…I really love planning parties!}

So there are our ideas for some great birthday parties…..now get to planning and tell us about it!!!
