flowers1Mother’s Day is a day to celebrate all the wonderful Moms out there! Seven years ago, my oldest son was born and I became a Mommy. Of all the things I grew up to become, being a Mother has been my favorite title. I could not imagine my future without my children, it sure would be quiet and mundane. My children make my life interesting.  We stay very busy with their school, extra curricular activities and wanting to show them all the beauty our world has to offer. I love our little family traditions that we are creating, I love our packed car, I love the chaos and I love being their Mommy.  It’s wonderful that we have a day to celebrate moms, but I already received the most amazing gift: My children!

So, on this Mother’s Day, here’s what this mom REALLY wants:

If you read Allison’s post earlier in the week, you will understand these common “wants”.
I want to sleep in and not wake up to the sounds of my children. I want the baby monitor turned off and my husband wide awake taking care of business. Once I wake, I would like my husband to bring me my first cup of coffee and ipad. I then would like to quietly check my email, facebook and browse pinterest. After my coffee is finished, I’d love to walk into a perfectly clean bathroom and without interruption, get ready for the day.  Now that I am ready, I’d love to join my children for a breakfast of Migas tacos and coffee.
Next, we would go to a beautiful park. My husband would have the car and ice chest packed for our trip. We would walk around the park and take in the beauty that Texas has to offer. The kids would play on the play scape while Rick and I held hands and shared a beautiful moment admiring the three wonderful children we created. The children would laugh and giggle and have smiles on their faces. Following our stroll, we would find a perfect spot under a tree and set up our picnic. Rick would have fresh French bread, salami, cheese, fruit and white wine packed in our cooler. The kids and I would enjoy a great conversation about how wonderful life is, our family and a little science discussion for my oldest. (And we would take a family photo where everyone is happy!)
We then head back home for nap and quiet time. Yes, true quiet time, where no one comes out asking questions or checking the time. I would enjoy a bit of time in my very clean house and realize I have no chores to complete. I’d leave my husband to watch over the quiet children, while I head to Target. I would take my time looking at everything Target has to offer and purchase whatever I wanted.
I’d come on back with my loot and put it away. The children would be in the middle of making me a cute homemade card with a from the heart letter to me. After they finished, they would clean up every speck of glitter and art supply and neatly place it back into the art closet without being asked. My children would present me with a new Brighton charm and their beautiful handmade cards. We would share cuddles and I would give them big hugs because my heart would be so full after reading their letters to me.
We’d get back in the car to go out to dinner. My husband would have reservations at Chuy’s and I would order a Mexican Martini to start the evening. My children would sit in their chair and not drop their fork on the floor, spill a cup of water or scream and cry.  Everyone would use their manners and eat their food. I would finish my 2nd Mexican Martini. My husband would carry our daughter out and the boys would carry the left over food.
Now that we are stuffed and tired, we would put our pajamas on and have movie night. I would hold my babies tight and enjoy the cuddles. After our long cuddle session, the children would go to bed on time, without complaints. My oldest would read a chapter of Harry Potter to his brother and I. I’d give and receive tons of hugs and kisses, share a wonderful prayer and head off to bed.
Is this really too much to ask!? After 364 consecutive days of being the family nurse, maid, chef, chauffeur, personal organizer and laundry service, all I ask is 24 hours as the center of my family’s universe.
