Yes, it’s still summer folks. And if you’re like me, you’re trying to keep the kids busy without over-heating! Today we’ve compiled some of our favorite splash pads, water holes, and pools around Austin.

Splash Pads

Hill Country Galleria- Bee Cave, TX

Have dinner with our friends at Iron Cactus, stop for dessert at Amy’s Ice Cream and then head to the splash pad which is in the Hill Country Galleria amphitheater.

The Domain- Austin, TX

Situated on the corner by Macy’s and California Pizza Kitchen, this is an easy bribe to get your children to behave while you shop with the hope of ending the day at the Domain splash pad!

Butler Park- Austin, TX

Enjoy the downtown Austin skyline and a gorgeous green lawn at Butler Park! Park at the Dougherty Arts Center off Barton Springs Rd and the water fun is just up and over the hill. Take a blanket and snacks, kick back, and enjoy the beauty of Austin while your littles have a ball!

Northeast Metropolitan Park- Pflugerville, TX

This place is awesome! Located in Pflugerville, Northeast Metropolitan Park has a playscape, splash pad, restrooms, soccer fields, basketball courts, a skate park, picnic tables with grills, and more! This is definitely more than a typical splash pad experience.

Brushy Creek Lake Park- Cedar Park, TX

Close to the corner of Parmer Lane and Brushy Creek Rd., this park is nestled back in the beautiful and quiet neighborhood of Brushy Creek along the greenbelt. There’s so much to do at this park, but the Brushy Creek Park splash pad is a definite hit!

The Triangle- Austin, TX

Again, The Triangle’s splash pad is right in the middle of shopping and restaurants! There is always something fun to do and the kids will have a ball splashing around while you enjoy the fun atmosphere The Triangle provides.

The Quarry Splash Pad- Leander/Cedar Park, TX

Settled in Leander, The Quarry is HUGE and GORGEOUS! With a slide and plenty of space for the kids to run around, this is a great place to take the kids. There’s not a lot of shade so make sure and slather on the sunscreen.

Bailey Park- Austin, TX

Just off North Lamar and 33rd St., Bailey Park’s Splash Pad features several pipes coming out of the ground that the kids love to climb and get wet in. This is a fun spot with bathrooms, some shade, and a whole lot of splash fun!

Southpark Meadows- Austin, TX

With a huge playscape, eats, shopping, and more, Southpark Meadows splash pad is a great spot to hit up if you are South. The splash pad fountains are located in The Grove next to the playground.

Prete Plaza- Round Rock, TX

Located in historic downtown Round Rock, Prete Plaza is a super fun spot located just across from the City Hall. They are closed from 11 am – 2 pm so make sure that you plan accordingly.

Pools & Water Holes

Lakeway Resort- Lakeway, TX

They don’t offer day passes all the time, but when they do, Lakeway Resort is a pretty spectacular experience. Not only is the pool heated in the winter, but they have full service, which means you can order food and drinks AND play! A great spot whether you are visiting or from Austin to spend the day… or weekend!

Volente Beach- Volente, TX

Family owned and operated, Volente Beach is located on Lake Travis just off of Volente Rd. They have water slides, sand volleyball, views of the lake, and picnic tables. Pack the ice chest, take some snacks, and spend the day at Volente Beach!

Krause Springs- Spicewood, TX

Tucked away in Spicewood, this natural water hole is GORGEOUS! If you’re not in the mood to hang out in the natural spring, they also have a man-made pool to swim in as well. You can camp for the weekend or go for the day, but either way, Krause Springs is a truly beautiful experience.

Barton Springs- Austin, TX

Barton Springs is great with kids or without kids and is a popular Austin hangout. It’s pretty cold, but what an awesome Austin staple that is a must try. Let the kids hangout on the lawn or go take a dip in the pool!

Hamilton Pool- Dripping Springs, TX

Off Hamilton Pool Rd., this is another beautiful must experience water hole. It’s absolutely gorgeous and we are incredibly lucky to have such beauty in our backyards! Take a day trip to Hamilton Pool!

  1. Hey! We are headed to Austin from Colorado to visit family and I can’t wait to check out some of the swimming holes! I heard you can’t swim in the Hamilton Pool right now because of bacteria. Is that true? A couple other pools I want to check out are Jacob’s Well and Blue Hole. Have you been to those?
