As the temperatures are pretty much always on the higher side in ATX, I am always desperate for an easy, cool hair-do to get my hair off of my neck. With naturally curly (read: FRIZZY) hair, this is no easy task. After some intense internet & pinterest research, I am managing to stay cool, and keep my hair looking halfway decent, not only through the summer, but as I have returned to work full-time as well.
Here are a few of my go-to hairstyles (and tips!):
The Side Pony. I used to sport a traditional pony tail all of the time. This past year, I brought back the side pony. Now, don’t get me wrong – I’m not rocking the up-high 80’s side-pony, but rather a low and, at times, messy side pony tail. It’s super easy, works for straight and curly hair, and can transition from running errands to a date night.
Top Bun. Now – this is a dream do for me, as I love the look of it, and think it looks super easy! My hair isn’t that long (yet!), so I haven’t quite perfected this style, but I’m anxious to try it out one of these days. It seems the perfect mom ‘do! I love how V added a headband, too. I totally picture this style for running errands, at work, and transitioning, seamlessly, into a great date night look.
Braid it up. As mentioned before, my hair isn’t that long, so I covet you ladies who can put your hair into a fab, braid whenever you wish! I have started braiding the front of my hair (on days that I leave it curly), and then tuck it into a low, sloppy, side bun. A braid makes everything a little more special!
Messy Up ‘Do. Sort of kickin’ it old school again, with a simple messy up ‘do, leaving the top a little sloppy. Sometimes I’ll add a cute headband to make it a bit more interesting. This is another look that works with straight or curly hair, for a quick work out, hanging out at home, a day of teaching, or a night out with the girls!
Good old hat day. I love wearing hats. I used to stick primarily to ball caps and newsboy caps, but recently jumped on the fedora bandwagon and LOVE it. Hats are a perfect way to get through those mornings when it’s too hot to blow dry, you’re in a hurry, or you just don’t feel like fixing your hair! Pull that mop back into a low pony or side bun, pop on a hat and you are good to go! Or, of course, you could be like the lovely Erin, and look incredibly glam when you don your hat! I absolutely love the versatility that a hat gives!
No Heat Curls! This is great because it’s super fast & easy but people will think you’re fancy. Plus, 2 hairstyles for the price of one! http://the818.com/2012/02/laissez-faire-hair/
