I have two very different jobs.  At one, it is acceptable to pee on the boss, wipe snot on her pants, and get poop on her shirt. At the other, I am the person who would be paying you a visit if you actually did pee or poop on anyone. Being a mother and being a mom who works outside the home are both very important to me, and I feel very lucky to have both in my life.

Hello, my name is Casey Bailey and I am a native Texan who moved away for four years to the beautiful mountain town of Park City, Utah only to be driven back by a sweet little baby named Ole and a booming economy for startup businesses.

I grew up in the Dallas suburb of Rockwall/Heath then moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas, where I earned a Bachelor’s degree in 2000. I was lucky enough to attend UT prior to Jenna Bush so TABC on Sixth Street was not a roadblock to my college partying experience.

I am an avid college football fan, and I met my husband, David Olson, at the Fiesta Bowl in January 2009 when Texas played Ohio State… and won. My dear husband had a fateful trip – the Buckeyes lost and he met me. We met at a bar the night before the game. He lived in Utah and traveled the world cooking, teaching, and filming underwater videography for National Geographic.

Needless to say, after dating long distance for almost two years, he mentioned that one of us should move, and that person was me. I took him up on his offer, we married in Maui, and then I spent four years in Park City.

Our son was born in Park City in July 2013. I was not someone who loved being pregnant, but I did have an awesome delivery. I wanted to have a natural birth, and we practiced hypnobirthing beginning in the second trimester. We were blessed and had no complications so I went into labor at nine one evening, relaxed until my water broke at home, went to the hospital, and had my baby by seven the next morning. I could have had him sooner, but there was only one doctor in the ghost town of a hospital and he was delivering another baby next door so I had to wait!

When our baby was nine months old, I was being recruited by a couple of really great companies and it was becoming apparent that in order for us both to continue growing professionally we needed to consider a move. We talked about Vancouver, New York, and Austin. Obviously, Austin won. We felt like being closer to family while Ole grows up would be special and the outdoorsy and casual qualities of Austin coupled with the amazing career opportunities for us both and educational opportunities for the kids made this the ideal place.

So, here we are. My stepdaughter who is six visits regularly, Ole is in Spanish immersion day school, we are working in awesome jobs, and we are all taking full advantage of the culture here in Austin. It’s been a perfect fit, even if it is a bit hot!
