Today, we gear up for Thanksgiving and prepare for holiday pics in the way of DIY thankful crafts and DIY holiday picture props!
Here are some easy ways to get in the spirit and teach our children about giving thanks. We also showcase some easy ideas on photography props!
Hand-Painted Decorative Pinecones:
What You Need:
- Pinecones
- Paint
- Small Paint Brush
What You Do:
- Paint the tips of the pinecones in any color that you want.
- This is a SUPER easy craft and makes a statement.
DIY Thankful Tree
What You Need:
- Planter
- Tree Branches
- Dirt/Rocks
- Gift Tags or DIY Hanging Tags
What You Do:
- Plant your tree branches in dirt or rocks
- Hang your thankful tags
- I decided to DIY mine. I used fall colored scrapbooking paper and cut into small rectangles with a decorative pair of scissors so the edges have design. Punched a hole and tied a piece of twine to create the hanger.
- I used the DIY hand-painted pinecones as filler on the top.
DIY Thankful Pumpkin
Have some pumpkins leftover from Halloween? Don’t throw them away… make a Thankful Tree!
What You Need:
- Pumpkin
- White Spray Paint
- Black Marker
What You Do:
- Spray Paint the Pumpkin
- Start writing your thankful messages!

DIY “Naughty & “Nice” Signs
What You Need:
- Picket Fence
- Paint
- Stencils
- Saw
- Picking Stain
What You Do:
- Using a saw, cut the wood to the length you want… you can cut points in the end to create an arrow affect {or not}.
- Wipe White Pickling Stain on the wood to give it the white-washed affect.
- Stencil “Naughty” and “Nice” onto the wood

DIY Bunting
What You Need
- Burlap or already prepared bunting
- Jute
- Paint
What You Do:
- Paint your burlap with fun/funky designs and holiday colors.
- Run the jute between the pieces of burlap
