We’ve waited patiently to share the news with our friends and family for nearly 20 weeks that our family is upgrading to a Party of 5!

I’ve always been a firm believer that life happens in 3s. Whether it be good or bad, 3 seems to be the magic number. And for 2016, we are thrilled to be welcoming Baby #3!

We have our “story” and some of it is sad, but today we choose to celebrate. Celebrate what the future holds and celebrate our family and the life we will be adding in April 2016.

We sent our Christmas cards out to friends and family earlier in the week with the big news and the #1 question we’ve received so far is “was this planned?”. So to clear up the questions and curiosity, the sex was planned and the baby is a bonus :).

Only a handful of people have known about our 3rd baby and most only learned very recently. We are pretty guarded with pregnancies after having experienced multiple pregnancy losses. Miscarriages can definitely be a joy thief.

We made the decision that we wanted to learn the gender of our 3rd baby in a more unique way than with our previous 2 boys. Typically I’m lying on a table, my doctor is moving the ultrasound around and simply tells us the sex. Very anti-climatic.

This time I shared the news of my pregnancy with Austin Moms Blog’s photographer, Laura Morsman Photography. Not only is she our family photographer, but she has also quickly become our friend. We asked her to plan our gender reveal, stage it, and capture it. I think we are the first to ask her to do this, but I certainly hope we are not the last… Laura has a heart of gold and truly captured everything perfectly.

It was the longest week having the sealed results on my bedside table and knowing that besides the sonographer, Laura was literally the only person who knew the gender of our baby. And no, we didn’t cheat and peek.

Of course we had our predictions. My husband felt I deserved a girl, but based on history, thought it was a boy. I didn’t mind if it was a girl, but felt strongly that it was a boy… just based on the fact the sonographer said there was “no doubt”, this pregnancy has been similar to my 2 boys, and that it would be fitting for a former pageant girl to never have a girl of her own. Obviously there was a 50/50 shot we’d get it right and baby BOY was definitely our prediction.

With that said, here are some of our favorites from Laura Morsman as well as our gender reveal! We think they are pretty magical. Enjoy!

We are super excited for the addition of a baby GIRL to our family. We only know how to raise boys thus far, but we are thrilled at the opportunity to have a little extra estrogen in the house. Thank you so much for celebrating with us!

Love, The Macks
