Meet Sarah Luden

Y’all! I am so excited to join the Austin Moms Blog crew. My husband and I are proud parents to a newly crowned ONE year old boy, Parker. We recently celebrated his birthday (and the fact that we survived our first year of parenthood) with a pow-wow themed party in the park. It’s been a whirlwind first year figuring out life with my monkey, and I’m constantly learning along the way.

We are super Texan — I was born and raised in Plano but made it to Austin as quickly as possible to attend The University of Texas (#HookEm). My husband was born and raised here (lucky duck). We love all the city has to offer and especially the people. Needless to say, we’re likely Austin lifers.

We live in Southwest Austin and fall more in love with our neighborhood each day, especially now that Parker has joined our tribe and our trips to the park are more frequent. This month there was a neighborhood kite festival and there’s even yoga in the park for the mamas next month! The community of moms are so supportive and I’ve learned so much from them.

I’m a big animal lover. Our fur baby, Riley, a 7 year old yellow lab, is the two time winner of Austin’s Fastest Dog Competition and was featured in the Top 10 Austin Fit Magazine’s Fittest Dogs (#stagemom). When Parker was born, it took Riley a few months to warm up to the idea that the attention wasn’t all on her any longer, but the duo has really hit their full stride recently. I think it has do with the fact that Parker shares his food and can now “throw” the tennis ball for her. Before Parker, it wasn’t uncommon for me to pop home from work with a foster pup (or two). I’m currently in husband negotiations for a second dog.

We have a ranch about two hours outside of Austin where we love to spend time with friends and family. The collection of camouflage clothing and Yeti coolers in our home is something else. I even compromise and listen to country music on ranch weekends (I’m a Hip Hop lover). When things get hectic with life, there’s no better fix than to officially unplug (no Wi-Fi or cable) and lots of patio time and sunsets. It also doesn’t hurt that my favorite winery is just 15 minutes away!

I work in Corporate Communications at Dell and have for over 7 years. My job has given me the opportunity to travel the world to places like India, China, Turkey and France and meet some of the best people, many of which I’m glad to call great friends. I’m passionate about the role technology plays in parenting, education and women’s initiatives and hope to share more with you guys about those topics.

This year has definitely been the best, hardest, happiest, most sleepless yet! I can’t wait to share some of my stories, learn from and get to know all of you through AMB. Cheers!
