It’s fun to incorporate food into holidays that is either traditional by nature such as Thanksgiving, or creative in a way that represents the celebration, such as being patriotic for the 4th of July. For example, at Easter  I decided to make “easter egg” pancakes, which turned out pretty great! Not Pinterest worthy but let’s face it — I’ll never get there. My kiddos enjoyed it as I let them stir food coloring into the batter, my daughter went for one pink and one purple pancake, my son went with blue and orange. I tried to pour the batter in such a way that it resembled an egg shape, and BOOM. Success.

This year show up to the party with an impressive 4th of July themed treat, and take all the credit for that Martha Stewart trophy. As you’re firming up those party plans, consider one of these to bring along!

Here are 5 patriotic treats to make in a hurry!

Going for simple? Snag a cookie cutter and make a star shaped fruit salad.

Feeling fancy? Dress up your ice cream cones and impress EVERYONE. Simply paint melted chocolate on cones with a pastry brush, add your patriotic sprinkles, and let dry.

Who says no to cheesecake bites? NO ONE. Add together cream cheese, confectioner’s sugar, and almond extract (let chill), then add to the top of the sliced strawberries. Add blueberries to bring out the patriot colorfulness.

Red, White, and Booze? These refreshing fruity ice drinks just include champagne (or sparkling water if you wish), cranberry juice, blueberries, and raspberries.

Last, but not least, you can’t go wrong with the All American flag cake. It mixes pound cake, Cool Whip, and topped with strawberries and blueberries.
