Christmas craft

I’m not crafty. I really, really want to be. I try really hard. I follow directions from other people fairly well, but the truth is I have a hard time coming up with this stuff myself. But, for Christmas, I want to give you a gift.

I want to share with you my actually fun, crazy inexpensive, Christmas craft that even my toddler enjoyed participating in! You may have seen Felt Christmas Trees before, but take a look at our imperfect DIY Christmas tree, and have the confidence that you can do this too… all for under $15! Enjoy 🙂

Materials needed:

  • Large green felt
  • Felt pieces – assorted colors
  • Scissors
  • Chalk – one piece
  • Tacky Glue – optional

Step 1:

Layout large piece of green felt, and use chalk to trace outline of Christmas tree

Step 2:

Cut said Christmas Tree

Step 3:

Encourage cute child to draw shapes on colored pieces of felt. My little guy is 2, so he did a lot of scribbling… I mostly did the drawing. Ideas for our Christmas tree ornaments are balls, stars, and candy canes! Older kiddos can draw any ornament they can imagine. Use cookie cutters for shape tracing if need be!

Step 4:

Cut out shapes (Optional: cut out small pieces to glue and decorate existing ornaments).

Step 5:

Decorate your tree! Store in a ziplock baggy for next year with your other Christmas decorations and have fun with this no-mess, toddler-safe craft! It ain’t perfect (#reallife), but it really was fun! Happy Holidays, Friends!
