Summer break means VBS for many kids, and there sure are a lot of options in and around Austin.

Here’s a list of VBS programs in Austin:

1. Creation Care VBS @ Church of the Violet Crown (East Austin)

This VBS curriculum will explore how God cares for creation and invites us to do the same. The theme verse for the week is Psalm 104:27-28, and the VBS mission statement is this: “The wonder we feel when we look at something beautiful leads us to care for it.” This year there will be an emphasis on getting to know our specific place and learning the names of the birds, the plants, and the people that are local to us. Christian creation care is also hopeful. It allows us to ask the question, “How might I bless creation? How might I bless the Lord?”

The Creation Care VBS @ Church of the Violet Crown will be held from July 9-13 (9 am-12 noon) at Martin Middle School. It is for ages kindergarten-5th grade; breakfast and lunch is provided; and it is free. To register, go to the VBS page on their website here.

2. God’s Creativity and Ours VBS @ Redeemer Presbyterian Church (East Austin)

From June 18-22, Redeemer will host an exciting week for children age 4 through 5th grade. It’s our first Redeemer Artes Camp! This will be a fun alternative to our traditional Vacation Bible School, where children will learn about God’s creative work through Scripture, song, and hands-on arts activities. The day will begin at 9:30 a.m. and end at 12:30 p.m.; families are encouraged to bring a picnic and eat lunch together after classes end.

The VBS is free. You can register for the VBS here.

3. Wild Wonder VBS @ Church of the Cross (North Austin)

This year’s theme at COTC’s VBS is “Wild Wonder: Learning to Bless Creation and Bless the Lord”. The camp, which focuses on God’s care of creation and our call to do the same, will take place from 9am-12pm June 18th-22nd with drop off starting at 8:45am.

COTC’s VBS is open to children ages 4-10 (going into Kindergarten through 10 years). The cost is $35 for the first child registered and $30 for siblings. Each child will receive a t-shirt with their registration. You can register for the VBS here.

4. Camp Ridge VBS @ Austin Ridge Bible Church (Bee Cave Campus; Southwest Austin)

Camp Ridge Kids is a week-long morning of awesome for kids entering Kinder – 5th Grade. Think “Vacation Bible School,” but flipped upside down, cranked to eleven, and beyond anything your child has yet to experience!

The camp will be held from July 30 – August 3 (9:30 – 12:30) and costs $25 per camper (includes t-shirt and “a whole bunch of awesome”). You can register for this VBS here.
