My Top Picks For Sandwich Shops In Austin
I love carbs and am a sucker for a great sandwich. Here’s a compilation of some of my tried and true favorites in Austin.
As a Vietnamese American, I have to pay homage to the Banh Mi sandwich. I grew up on these. This cute trailer does justice to the traditional combination banh mi or the OG, which is cold cuts served with pate. Their pate is to-die for!
I’m obsessed with their grilled cheeses. One of my go-to meals is a Voltron and a Green Apple Muenster grilled cheese — perfection! They’re perfectly toasted, and the cheese is super melty. They also have gluten free bread as an option!
There are two walk up counters in South Austin and now a brick-and-mortar location off Airport.
I love coming here and sitting on the patio. They have delicious sandwiches, great pickles, and yummy bread bowl soups. Their sandwiches are on the meatier side. I love the Foghorn Leghorn. Good for kids, if you sit outdoors.
This hole-in-the-wall sandwich shop near campus is a gem. The pickles are to die for, and the sandwiches are amazing as well. Parking can be a bit tough on campus, but you can combine this with a trip to the Coop and walk around!
I went here when I was pregnant, and they were super thoughtful about addressing which sandwiches to avoid (cold cuts and soft cheeses). They also told me their turkey is fresh cut in house and nitrate free. I was impressed by their service. Not to mention the sandwiches are incredible and generously portioned.
I’ve been coming to this cute place for years. It’s a little house, so during the lunch rush it can get quite full, but there is ample seating outside. I love their chicken salad sandwich and apple pork tenderloin (anticipate getting a little messy, but it’s worth it!). Great atmosphere.
This place is the cutest! I love bringing friends here and out-of-towners. Their pick two fancy lunch is a pretty good deal. I’ve tried several sandwiches including the Gobble, Turkey Sweet, and Freebird Chicken. Their desserts and lattes are incredible as well, and the beautiful plants and flowers definitely make this place Insta-worthy!
