The Best Spots For Family Photos In Austin, From A Family Photographer
Families are my jam. The crazier and more energetic, the better. As a family photographer here in Austin, one of the questions I’m asked most often by my clients is all about location. Where should we shoot? I work with each family to determine the location that’s best for them based on their goals, schedule, and vision. I’ve gotten to know some incredible spots for family photos and wanted to share five of my absolute favorites. Take a peek at some of the pictures from my sessions to get a sense of each location!
The Contemporary Austin – Laguna Gloria
Forever and always, Laguna Gloria will always have my heart. From the beautiful and regal interior to the lush grounds, this has such a variety of different looking shots to truly get a wide array of stunning photos.
2. Mayfield Park
Between the lush garden, the beautiful ponds, and the perfect little white cottage, this is one of my absolute favorite spots to take family photos. Kids also feel at ease almost immediately because they love to see the fish and flowers.
3. Bee Cave Park
This might be a hike for some of you, but the light is DREAMY. It hits in just the right spots, and it has the most beautiful fence by the dog park where the sun peeks through to give a perfect flare. It also has a little area with rocks that kids love, along with beautiful benches. It’s definitely one of my most requested locations for family photos.
4. Bull Creek
This is such a great location for a fun, adventurous family. There are some beautiful spots with draping trees for great shots, along with some gorgeous trails, fields, and of course the creek, itself. I love to end my sessions with the kids just splashing and playing in the water.
5. Pease Park
This is another favorite because it’s so unique. It has these beautiful stick structures, along with some stunning trails, trees, and an adorable creek. Kids also feel at ease here pretty quickly because of all there is to see and do.
Keep in mind that some of these locations will require a fee if you’re shooting with a professional. Photographers, make sure to check each website to see if there is a fee required so you can build it into your sessions.
We are so fortunate that there are so many great family photography spots here in Austin, and these are just a few of my favorites.
