The Best of Coffee In South Austin

As mamas we crave the 6th food group, coffee.  Java drives our early mornings, helps us beat the afternoon slump, and occasionally helps out in the evenings when we need an extra jolt. Here is the awesome thing about coffee, we don’t have to share it with the kiddos! We share everything with our children.  Some of us share our beds, we’ve shared our wombs, we share our iPads, we even share the bathroom, because we all know we can’t get a minute alone.

Check out my top four favorite coffee shops in the South Austin area!

Summer Moon

Coffee beans are hand-roasted daily, family owned and operated. Per their website, “we use no gas or electricity in our commercial roaster. We employ a wood fire for heat and human ingenuity (muscle) to power our roaster.” Customize your coffee sweetness and enjoy their delightful sweet treats as well as breakfast tacos. Crayons, toys and books in kid areas to entertain the littles is awesome! With locations on South First Street, Manchaca Street and 290 Highway near Dripping Springs, you have plenty of options to swing by.

Summer Moon Coffee: Highway 290 location

Cosmic Coffee & Beer

Coffee, cocktails and chickens, oh my! This spot is a true gem in South Austin featuring specialty coffees, locally brewed beer, craft cocktails, food trucks and live music. This outdoor spot is ideal for bringing the dog and kids to enjoy your coffee for hours.

Malone Specialty Coffee

This coffee food truck, previously located in Oak Hill, has moved to South Lamar. They offer various food items as well as their fresh roasted coffee drink selections. Butter coffee, cold brew and their signature drinks are all delicious. With FOUR shots of espresso in their large coffees, these drinks will get you ready to start your day! Bonus: the employees are always so friendly and willing to accommodate requests.

Stonehouse Coffee & Bar

Historic location, huge oak trees on the patio and bistro lighting. Need I say more!? Perfect place to bring a laptop to get some work done and enjoy a great cup of coffee. This cute coffee shop also hosts a great selection of teas for those non-coffee drinkers and various unique concoctions like their matcha latte with lavender syrup. With its own dedicated parking lot behind the shop, parking is usually never an issue, even with it being on South Lamar. Big win!

What are your favorite coffee spots? Feel free to share as I’d love to add to list of faves!
