My Halo Laser Treatment at Sanova Dermatology

I am a fan of anything skincare. I love a good mask, an exfoliator, a microdermabrasion treatment, any anything that will attack the fine lines and help prevent this inevitable aging. Lasers are your friend mamas! I’ve had laser hair removal, IPL laser treatments and laser tattoo removal. A little laser magic goes a long way. When I had the opportunity to have the Sciton Halo Laser Treatment, I jumped on board. (Perks that it was performed by the licensed medical aesthetician at Sanova Dermatology, who has over 15 years of experience performing these types of procedures. I LOVE THEM!)

If you want to get glowing skin, get rid of uneven skin tone, sun damage, acne and scars, and have tried everything else, try the Halo. The treatment can get a bit spicy, I’m not going to lie to you, but it is doing work to improve sun damage, pigment, fine lines, wrinkles, pore size, and acne scarring.

The details about all things Halo Laser are below but you’re here to hear about my results. At the time of laser – not painful, more like an annoying poking, popping sensation. After laser – felt like Samantha in Sex in The City after that facial – SO RED. I had to avoid the sun for 24 hours. Down time ranges from 5-10 days, which is minimal compared to most other laser procedures. Mine was a full ten days. I was red and a little uncomfortable the first day and then fine the rest. The sun damage and dead skin starting speckling day two and didn’t stop until day ten. (It took every piece of me not to scrub my face, the skin coming through is the weirdest feeling!)

Day ten – glowing skin.

After that I could feel a huge difference in my pores, the lines around my eyes and the texture of my skin. My makeup lays so much better, lotions actually absorb evenly and my face is so dang soft.

Would I do it again? Yes. I may not be the ideal patient as I don’t have a lot of acne scarring or lines but I love the results. There is a little down time, but it’s totally worth it!

Everything you need to know about Sanova Dermatology’s Halo Treatment

What is the Halo laser treatment?

Halo is the world’s first hybrid fractional laser with unique dual wavelengths which applies tunable non-ablative (1470nm) and ablative (2940nm) wavelengths to the same microscopic treatment zone to maximize results and reduce downtime. The dual wavelengths allow the provider the ability to customize treatments for each individual based on their individual needs.

What results can I expect?

Halo is a complete skin rejuvenation treatment. You will see improvements in overall tone and texture in addition to significant removal of discoloration, reduction in fine lines, reduced pore size, skin reflectivity and glow.

How many treatments do you need?

What’s great about Halo is that you can choose how many treatments you want! Discuss with your provider your needs and you can choose to have one or two more aggressive treatments or have multiple treatments that are less aggressive and achieve a similar goal over a longer period of time.

What happens during the treatment?

Forty-five minutes to an hour before the treatment your provider may place a topical anesthetic on your skin to reduce the sensation during the procedure. Prior to the treatment, the area will be measured with motion tracking technology to ensure the area is treated evenly. The provider will treat each measured section by rolling the Halo hand piece over the skin until the system recognizes the treatment is complete.

What does Halo feel like?

With a topical anesthetic and integrated cooling technology, most patients experience a feeling of heat with occasional prickling sensations, but are generally comfortable. After the treatment, most patients will continue to feel warm for an additional 2-3 hours, depending on the depth of the treatment.

What is the downtime after Halo laser treatment?

Halo Laser Treatment produces expected side effects, often referred to as “down-time”. The intensity and duration of your side effects depends on the aggressiveness of your treatment and your individual healing characteristics. Generally, patients who are treated more aggressively experience more intense and longer lasting side effects. Conversely, some patients who receive a less aggressive treatment may experience side effects of greater-than-expected magnitude.

In addition, rednessswelling and pinpoint bleeding may also occur. You may experience more severe swelling around and below the eyes one-day post treatment. The worst swelling is usually in the morning, particularly around the eyes.

The skin will start to look “bronzed” and little dark dots will appear on the treated area. Some patients may also experience itching during the healing process. You may notice a “sandpaper” texture a few days after treatment. Your skin will feel dry, and begin to peel or flake.

This treated tissue is working its way out of your body as new, fresh skin is regenerated.

This sloughing skin is a normal result of Halo laser treatment; most patients complete this process in 5-7 days depending on treatment settings and how much sun damage is being treated.

How soon after my treatment can I return to normal activities?

Typically within 24 hours you’re able to wear make-up and 72 hours to exercise.

When will I see results?
You will see initial results seven days after your Halo treatment, but your skin will continue to improve over time.

How long will my results last?
Halo results will last for years to come, but you should continue to keep your skin protected at all times using UV sunscreen to protect your new, healthy skin and a hat. Each additional Halo treatment you get will only improve the results.

There you have it. Sanova Dermatology in Bee Cave was incredible.
