Meet Alison Bogle

Hi Everyone! I’m really excited about the opportunity to work with Austin Moms Blog and to share this mommyhood journey with you.

My husband, Scott, and I have three kids – Ana (2006) and boy/girl twins Reed and Sofia (2011). The family is rounded out by an enormous dog and a rotating collection of fish. I’m all about having fun and going on adventures with my kids. I often bite off more than I can chew, but that’s okay – it usually ends up in an entertaining story, which is my favorite kind. My writing is a little bit funny, a little bit snarky, sometimes serious and heartfelt, but always honest. No hiding warts over here!

My journey to motherhood has been pretty unconventional, but that seems to be the way I roll. After dealing with infertility for several years, Scott and I adopted our oldest from Russia at 13 months. Motherhood baptism by fire! We figured we were done, but a surprise pregnancy let us know that there was still room for one more in our family. Sadly, that pregnancy was not to be, but it did encourage us to try again. With help from fertility shots, I became pregnant with twins. I also got a bonus in the form of hyperemesis! Not having Princess Kate’s medical or stylist team, most days I looked like I had been run over by a truck – except my middle, that part was anything but flat. A very long nine months later, Reed and Sofia were born and I celebrated the return of my appetite with a huge cheesesteak. Oh yeah, and I celebrated the babies, too.

My background is in marketing, but before children I made a career switch to education and taught fourth grade. Now I write from home and the rest of my time is spent running the circus that is our family. Crazy, chaotic, but the best thing that ever happened to me! You can also check me out on my personal blog and monthly in Austin Family Magazine.

Alison Bogle is a writer living in Austin with her husband Scott, daughter Ana (2006) and boy/girl twins, Reed and Sofia (2011). A former marketing manager turned fourth grade teacher, she now works at home as a unicorn. Seriously. Magical thinking is the only possible explanation for how her family thinks she could pull off all they ask of her! She loves travel, reading, running, blowing off steam with friends, being outside, and the Don Juan taco with a passion. She can usually be found biting off more than she can chew and, of course, writing about it. Check her out at www.mycontrolexperiment.com or monthly in Austin Family magazine.
