Barton Creek Square and The Domain Celebrate Earth Day
Barton Creek Square and The Domain invite the local community to celebrate Earth Day as part of Simon’s dedication and focus on sustainability.
Simon incorporates sustainable thinking into all areas of business from how we plan, develop and operate our properties, to how we do business with our customers, engage with our communities and create a productive and positive work environment for our employees.

During the week of April 22 – 28, Barton Creek Square and The Domain will celebrate Earth Day through community recycling partnerships, special retailer initiatives, themed family events and other engaging programming.
Each property will host a special Green Family Fun Earth Day event. Families will enjoy Earth Day themed entertainment, crafts, snacks, a photo opportunity, and more on Sunday, April 28 from 1-3PM in JCPenney Court at Barton Creek Square and on Saturday, April 27 from 3-5PM near Ipic Theater at The Domain. Additionally, each event will feature special readings of The Earth Book, where the first 100 children will be able to decorate their own reusable tote bag and leave with their own copy of the book. Barton Creek Square’s event will include two performances of The Green Show, which features educational songs about the seasons, recycling, bees, compost, farming and enjoying Mother Earth. The Domain’s event will also feature an interactive musical show where families can explore and create sounds with recycled materials.
BARTON CREEK SQUARE
Additional Earth Day activities at Barton Creek Square include educational opportunities with LASA Environmental Club, Organics by Gosh, P.U.P. Movement, Save Our Springs Alliance and Richard’s Rainwater; as well as a ReStore-recycle & reuse drive with Habitat for Humanity.
Barton Creek Square also encourages shoppers to participate in retailer sustainability initiatives. In addition to sharing information on company-wide eco-friendly practices, Aveda will have a lip and cheek station and Starbucks will offer free cold brew coffee.
THE DOMAIN
Community organizations participating throughout the week at The Domain include Sustainable Food Center; Sierra Club Climate Change; Austin Energy; Davis Elementary with student’s nature artwork displays; and Dress for Success with a clothing, shoes and accessory donation bin.
The Domain also encourages shoppers to participate in retailer sustainability initiatives, including American Eagle used jeans collections for $10 off a new pair; L’Occitaine package recycling for 10% discount; Microsoft electronic recycling bin for $50 towards planting a tree; Nespresso capsule recycling program and free espresso samples; and Luxe Apothetique eco-friendly item display.
