As you know the kids are back in school. As a result, you can finally shop at Target alone without buying a toy that you didn’t budget for.
Now, what do you do after school?
The topic of conversation between Moms is after school activities. Maybe you are waiting to see what your kids will want to do after school? Do kids really know what they want? All signs are pointing towards sports but what if there was something else to do besides sports? Something that would help regulate behavior and emotions after being in a rule-following environment all day. My list covers everything from low commitment, drop-in friendly, and daytime classes available where homeschool kids are welcome too! A place where kids can go and use their “Right brain” and be creative!
For the Artsy kids! Students pay an annual registration and supply fee of $75. Tuition is paid monthly. The enrollment is always open throughout the year. Has six locations in and around Austin. They offer morning classes for Homeschool families.
A friend of mine told me about Circus Camp her kids attended here over the Summer. Offers open gym, Aerial arts, Obstacle course, Gymnastics, Ninja Warrior, Tumbling, Trampoline, and more stations to enjoy! All classes end with Positive Affirmations (which I love) Ask about P.E. for Homeschool.
For the Junior Chef in your life! Focus is on beginner basics of cooking and the science behind why it works. Classes start at 4 p.m. so that you don’t have to rush to get there.
Interested in joining but not sure what to expect? Try it Out Girls Scouts is all about attending an event where you bring your girls and they bring the FUN! Check website for calendar and locations.
A simple four process online to become a member. Also, has Recruitment Events where you’ll meet with unit leaders who will answer any questions you may have about joining.
A nationwide program to add aerobic exercise in two days a week. $4 for each kid under 10 years old. Go to any participating skating rink on select days until December. Note this does not include the additional cost of skate rental. Roller skating is good for improving balance and flexibility!
Their philosophy is to first schedule a 15-minute free interview to find the right type of music education for your family. Northwest Austin and a new location in Cedar Park. They offer Piano, Guitar, Voice, and Violin. Enrollment is open all year.
For the kids who sing along in the car! A six week after school keyboard club set up right at school! Keyboard and headphones are provided to each student enrolled. Teaches kids the basics to all the songs they know and love by Taylor Swift, Super Mario Bros., Star Wars, and More. Available in most Austin schools! Enroll soon class size limited.
For the kids who love to sing and dance! Learn Broadway musical material where students will act, sing, and dance. All while learning rhythm, balance, and coordination. Making life-long theatre friends here is a bonus!
What are your outside the box after-school activities?
If nothing else you can always enjoy watching your kid’s imagination grow by giving them an empty cardboard box to play spaceship with!
