When I look at my daughters I want so much for them both. I want them to have confidence, to believe in themselves, I want them to have the courage to use their gifts and create an impact in this world. As a #girlmom I am always looking for resources that can help me achieve these goals.

The Girls Empowerment Network is the perfect solution. They are hosting their 12th Annual WE ARE GIRLS Austin Conference Saturday, November 16th from 9:00am – 3:00pm at Anderson High School.

WE ARE GIRLS helps girls become unstoppable. Their program is designed to ignite the power within each precious girl to learn what they need to thrive and truly become unstoppable in our culture. This program is geared toward girls in grades 3- 8 and the adults who care about them. The 2019 theme is BELIEVE IT & BE IT with inspiring speakers, dozens of activities and workshops covering everything from creativity and entrepreneurship to body image, bullying, and healthy relationships.

Austin’s growing, diverse population is perfect for We Are Girls Austin. There is a place for everyone at this event. The Girls Empowerment Network creates the event to hold a unique experience for all by getting a thousand girls together in one place and delivering a day with lasting, local impact.

WE ARE GIRLS focuses on the Six Ways to be Unstoppable: confidence, coping skills, collaboration, communication, critical thinking and creativity. The two incredible keynote speakers who are coming to Austin inspire belief and motivate in all of these areas.

Aisha Thomas, with an unstoppable mindset, overcame challenges including dating violence and sexual assault, to become an honor roll student at her high school.

April Bowman, the second speaker, empowers women to reach their full potential and this is at the core of everything that she does.

There are 70 powerful breakout sessions this year which offer girls and adults a wide-range of presentations, workshops, and hands-on activities. Everything from Terrie Nathan sharing about a “Strong Girl’s Guide to Confidence,” “Embracing Your Voice” with Monica Dorsey, “Secrets to Career Success” with Uche Maple, and “Finding Joy Within” provided by Zen Bug Yoga. Other topics include, “Turning Parts into ART” from Dell Technologies, “Navigating Friendships and Yourself,” “Beyonce’s Chopper Challenge,” by DPR Construction and many more all day long.

In addition to the  speakers, We Are Girls Austin creates a day designed to promote well-being, creativity, goal-setting and more. Conference organizers recruit experts from areas including arts, education, social/emotional learning, health and wellness, dance, parenting, counseling, technology and entrepreneurship.

The girls leave this event with new friends, as well as a sense of sisterhood and pride in being a girl. They feel empowered and equipped to navigate the unique challenges and pressures they are facing. I know that my daughters would walk away feeling excited to be girls and excited for their futures. I can only imagine how special these feelings would feel in a room with 2,000 people cheering them on.

Tickets to We Are Girls Austin are $30 and are available for purchase online. Scholarships are available. Admission includes lunch, GIRLSFair, supplies, goodie bag, access to all Featured Conference Speakers presentations, breakout workshops and resource fair.

WE ARE GIRLS AUSTIN is proudly supported by H-E-B.
