Last year I used the excuse that I was just too busy to pull family photos together or send out Christmas cards. And because I pretty much make those types of things go round on the home front, they didn’t happen. What DID happen is my family grew up before my very eyes and my once 18 month old became a 3 1/2 year old, my 4 year old became 6 and my 7 year old became 9…y’all NINE! Look at how tiny they “used” to be. Oh and then there’s “the beard” that my husband now has. We’ve all just……changed.

We will never skip family photos again and you shouldn’t either!

Our family photos from 2017

The old saying “the days are long, but the years are short” is so true and there’s nothing that showcases that more than taking a trip down memory lane and looking back at pictures. And sure, we can capture our kids with our phones and upload them to social media and we can ask a stranger at the park to snap a quick pic of the family, but there’s nothing quite like professional photos.

I know what some of you may be thinking…. professional photos are expensive and require too much work. While yes, that can be a true statement, they don’t have to be! Most photographers offer a more affordable option called a “mini session”, which honestly is about all most families have the bandwidth for anyway. And there are a lot of “just starting out photographers” on the market as well that charge less than a more seasoned photographer. Everyone’s budgets are different, but what I encourage you ALL to do is carve out the time, the energy, and the financial resources {whatever that may look like} and go get family photos.

We will treasure these forever.

Laura Morsman has been photographing our family {and our AustinMoms.com family} for 7 crazy years. She’s been with us through highs and lows and her photography has extended to so many of our team members as well. I love that we’ve been with her since the beginning and have been able to watch her talent {and portfolio} grow. I keep thinking she’s going to outgrow us and in most ways, I think she has, but she still loves to capture our team, our events, and our families. And for that, we are so grateful!

Laura has an uncanny ability to turn what feels like absolute chaos into something that’s really special… something that you can hold onto and cherish for a lifetime.

The last time we had family pics taken was 2017 and I loved those too, but this year, I wanted something that was just our family. No frills, no Austin hot spot, just our little family. I couldn’t be happier with how Laura captured our family and with 6 of us, it wasn’t easy. We even got our fur-baby in on the fun!

It’s been a long time that I’ve genuinely loved any of the solo pics taken of me and the hubs… like probably since our engagement pics all those years ago, but gosh, I love these of us. I hope one day our kids and grandkids look back at these pictures and are reminded of how much love and admiration we have for one another. Parenting ain’t easy, but it’s pretty fun when you’re doing it with someone you like.

And in case I get a wild hair and want to look back and see how my husband sees me {versus the hot mess mom I feel like 99.9% of the time}, I’ll always have this to lean on too.

Thank you, Laura, we absolutely love our 2019 pics and vow to never skip a year ever again! Learn more about Laura’s talent here!
