My name is Rebecca and I am very excited for this opportunity to write for Austin Moms blog. I have lived within the Austin city limits my entire life along with most of my family. My closest friends have been with me since elementary & high school who have also lived in Austin most, if not all, of their lives, too. I hear we’re a rare commodity, but we do exist!!
I have been married to Jacob for 10 years and we have one son, Devlin. We have struggled with fertility for the last 7 years and have had to make some hard decisions about how to continue to grow our family.
Now, we are focused on a new adventure and the chance of having more children either by fostering or even adopting.
For fun, we venture outdoors to the greenbelt or parks. My husband is a biologist and it’s always a neat experience to see him catch critters and creepy crawly things. To see my son and other children get to touch and hold animals is a real treat. I am deathly afraid of snakes, so this whole biology thing is new to me. And, if you ever need a rattle snake removed from your property, my husband can help! (Ew!)
I’m also a working mom and enjoy the opportunity to have a life aside from “momming.”
I solely credit my son’s remarkable knowledge (for a 4-year-old) to the educators at his school! I have been in the insurance industry for over 20 years and I’ve been with my boss almost that entire time. I have literally grown up with her and several other people within the company and industry. It’s been a privilege to see coworkers get married, have babies, and support them during difficult life experiences making us a whole other “family” I get to see every day.
I love learning new things, reading about business ventures, using Pinterest to fuel my creativity, and we love visiting wineries & breweries in the area. I also enjoy visiting with family and friends and sharing a bottle of wine. We recently remodeled a room in our house that will help us host more parties and we’re very excited to start utilizing the space.
P.S. The new room has a wine fridge!
I started a blog several years ago with the idea of sharing my thoughts, but life got in the way and I stopped writing. So, when I saw the opening for new blog writers on AustinMoms.com, I jumped at the chance to do it. I’m so thrilled to be part of this community to help me grow and maybe lend a few laughs to some fellow mama readers. Give me your comments and feedback!
I am so excited for your new adventure! You are going to be amazing!
Knowing Rebecca for many years now, what I’ve grown to love and respect about her, is the candidacy on the journey of motherhood she shares — the good, the bad and ugly. Also, as someone who was on a the fertility journey, too, it was great to know I wasn’t alone — and this something so needed that isn’t shared nearly enough. Moms, we’re all lucky to have her!
This is awesome. You’re going to do so well at this!!
