Meet Meg Linstruth – Wife and Mom turned Fitness and Foodie Fanatic
Ok, the kiddos are logged into virtual school, I have finished my morning workout, I have my coffee in hand (oh man, it’s cold again) and I am ready to get to work. Seriously, the scene here is too funny, we look like three busy ladies working around a conference table, but it’s our dining room.
First of all, I am so excited to be a part of the Austin Moms team and I can’t wait to share my life with you. I have lived in Austin for about 10 years and I still feel like I have a lot to learn about this city.
I’m Meg Linstruth and am a Michigan native who will probably never adjust to this heat. How do you guys deal with these summers?!?! I absolutely must see snow every year and usually get a little grumpy around September when it is still in the 90’s here.
I am married to the best guy ever. He perfectly balances my high energy and is usually up for any one of my crazy ideas – like when he got home form a business trip and I met him in the driveway with a new puppy. It’s hard to believe that we didn’t even like each other when we first met. I even brought my best friend along on our first date! After a while, we joke that we finally just settled on each other.
Fourteen years later, we have 2 beautiful daughters, Lucy (2009) and Holly (2010) and he let me keep that rescue puppy, named Oliver. The girls keep us busy with their dance and swim teams, but I have still found time to pursue my passion in the health and wellness world.
I have always been a great lover of all things fitness. I even did a workout video for my 8th grade science project…and I got an A! Since then, my fitness career has followed right alongside my life. I started coaching cycling classes right after college and then I worked exclusively with pre and post-natal mothers when my kids were babies. When my girls went off to school I started coaching at OrangeTheory Fitness once Lucy and Holly started school.
As much as I love fitness, I think I might love food even more! I have always loved to cook and eat, and good nutrition really became important to me when I became a mom. Now I spend my free time creating and changing recipes to make them healthy AND tasty. It’s always a fun challenge to take a favorite meal or recipe and give it a healthy makeover. Most of the time, people don’t even notice and love it even more!
It is this combined love of food, fitness, and family that led me to create Healthy Mom Wellness, a health coaching practice devoted to families well-being. My mission is to show families that being healthy doesn’t have to be hard! I am so proud to work with parents and kids to set (and crush) health and wellness goals, fit healthy habits into their personal lifestyle and feel their best. Check it out at healthymomwellness.com.
Now, I can’t wait to share all of my tips, tricks, and recipes with you on Austin Moms!
