Best Snow Cones in Austin! With temperatures in Austin reaching mid to upper 90’s, we often treat the kids to snow cones to help cool off from these hot summer days. Austin has grown so much over the past years, and with that growth has come some awesome new local businesses. My best friend and myself took our teenagers/tweens on the hunt for the best snow cones in Austin.

First stop on our hunt for the best snow cone in Austin was….

  1. Chrissy’s Icies: 2730 E Cesar Chavez ST, Austin, TX

On her website Chrissy describes her Icies as “Some call it Italian Ice; some call it sorbet.”  But what your eating is authentic NYC Fruit Helado, and by far this was my favorite spot that we visited!  Chrissy’s offers a sampler’s tray where you can sample four flavors of their fresh fruit Helado.  I tried the Passion Fruit, Mango Cherry, Rainbow Ice, and Strawberry Lemon (my favorite is the Passion Fruit).  I cannot forget, Chrissy’s Icies is Dairy Free-Vegan Free and Nut Free.

Next on our stop for the best Austin snow cone was….

  1. Shaved Ice Island: 2701 W William Cannon, Austin, TX

Shaved Ice Island is a gem that we happened upon on accident!  Oh yes, I am so glad that we did run into this place by chance, because it is not too far from my house in Southwest Austin.  We always get other customers opinion on what is good when we visit a new spot, and this day was not different.  The Mexican Rice Pudding is a fan favorite, and the Purple Magic (whipped cream topped with purple glitter).  I settled for the Cucumber Lime, and it did not disappoint!  This was the most refreshing Snow Cone on a hot humid Austin day I have had EVER! Just imagine drinking a cucumber lemonade!  Yass!!

We heard a lot about Bahama Bucks in Kyle, but opted to visit their location on E Stassney LN.

3. Bahama Bucks: 105 E Stassney LN, Austin, TX

Bahama Bucks did not disappoint for the kids!  Their menu offers shaved ice, smoothies, Bahama Sodas, Frostalattes, Lemonades, and Acai Bowls.  The kids ordered the Lemonberry Warhead flavor (Lemonberry Warhead flavor w/ sour spray).  I opted for the Strawberry Cheesecake Delight (Strawberry Cheesecake flavor & Vanilla Bahama Rama Mama Flavor).

I had to make sure that we stopped by Jim-Jim’s!

4. Jim-Jim’s Water Ice: 615 E 6th ST

Jim-Jim’s is located on East 6th Street in downtown Austin, they offer over 30 flavors for their Italian Water Ice.  Best seller flavors are Mango, Strawberry Lemonade, and Dragons Blood.  Orange Cream has been my favorite since I was a teenager. It was not often that we made the drive from far North Austin to downtown Austin for Snow Cones, but it was always a treat when I could get me some Jim-Jim’s Orange Cream Italian Water Ice. Jim-Jim’s not only serves Italian Water Ice, but they also serve Premium and Softserve Ice Cream.

Last on our hunt was Sweet Caroline’s!  I’m not going to lie, I have driven by their location in Circle C hundreds of times and never stopped, OMG these are to die for! I could eat the ice alone!

  1. Sweet Caroline’s Snow Shack: 5700 W Slaughter Ln, Austin, TX (Second Location 13497 HWY 183 North/ Corner of Anderson Mill Rd & 183)

Sweet Caroline’s is a New Orleans styled snow-ball (I’m humming Sweet Caroline right now lol) made of fine and fluffy shaved ice with two locations in both Northwest and Southwest Austin.  We waited in line to try Sweet Caroline’s for 30 minutes and it was well worth the wait!  I tried the Amazing Grace (Peach, Strawberry, Vanilla, and Cream), and First Dance (Strawberry, Wedding Cake & Cream).  Hands down I loved the First Dance!
