Hi, I’m Andrea Steimle! I am a stay-at-home mama and yogi loving living in Austin, Texas. As far back as I can remember, I have always wanted to become a teacher. After high school, I enrolled at a local private college in my hometown in Green Bay, Wisconsin. I was determined to graduate in three years and received my diploma in 2006. I graduated with an Elementary Education major and minor in Spanish, and was able to get a teaching position in our local school district in a bilingual classroom.

My husband Jake and I met in college while he was working as a teacher’s assistant for one of my required science courses. In case you are wondering, I passed the class with an A! After graduation and spending a few years working in our careers, we finally got engaged. In 2011, we moved to Austin due to a job opportunity, and fell in love with this city! We both felt that Austin was the perfect place to call “home” and raise a family.
In 2013 I experienced one of the scariest moments of my life! I found out I was expecting, and during my second trimester while out walking with a friend in Town Lake I started having contractions. The doctors had to put me on strict bed rest at 25 weeks. Despite all of the challenges during this pregnancy, I was able to carry my baby to term and Everett was born at 37 weeks.
Andrea Steimle and family

In 2018, we sold our home in Austin and moved back to Wisconsin for a short period of time. My mom was diagnosed with Stage 3 Cancer and I felt the strong need to be with her during this difficult time. Thankfully, she is now Cancer-free. While living back home, we also found out we were expecting again. In spite of our experience with our first, I had an overall healthy pregnancy, and Miss Ellie was born without any serious complications. She is now two and has been a beautiful addition to our family. Ellie currently loves watching Peppa Pig, catching bugs and playing outside.

Everett is a second grader at Rough Hollow Elementary in the Lake Travis School district, and loves playing baseball and flag football with the Lake Travis Youth Association. He loves school, playing with friends and is the best big brother! I admire how smart and kind-hearted he is!

After having Ellie, I resigned from teaching in the classroom and truly love being a stay-at-home mama. I enjoy actively volunteering in the community and in the Lake Travis School District. I also stay busy by teaching yoga at Hill Country Indoor, a sports facility here in Lake Travis. When I am not mom-ing, volunteering or teaching yoga, I enjoy spending time with friends and family. I look forward to sharing about my experiences as a mom, yogi and developing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle with you in the Austin Moms Blog!
