It’s the only Earth we got, we have to take care of it!

Every year, on April 22 we celebrate Earth Day! It’s recognized as the largest event in the world, and this year will actually mark the 52nd anniversary of the holiday. There is no better day to step up and do something nice for the Earth–the only one we have!

Here are some ways that you, family and friends can come together to make our Earth a better place to live.

  • Keep your neighborhood clean-if you see trash on the ground, take a moment to toss it in a trash can.
  • Recycle cans, bottles and paper-save them at home and at school and help your family recycle them.
  • Help to save water-Encourage yourself and your kids to turn the water off while brushing your teeth.
  • Recycle your electronics-whether it’s used or old, broken computers, phones and tablets can often be recycled for free by retail stores.
  • Give your car a break-use this time to rive your bike or walk to and from running errands and to get more exercise.
  • Act local by buying local produce and other other items to support local businesses.
  • Get involved with your local community in volunteering for a clean up day in the neighborhood or local park to restore the habitat and other efforts to make communities greener.

These simple ways to celebrate with friends and family can create so much good for the Earth. This day inspires us to act towards protection of the environment and focus on the need for conservation. (Being less wasteful can help save you money, too!) Keep it going every day!

It’s our world, so let’s work together in caring for it. Keep your planet safe to get a healthy future.
