Summer was fast and furious, back-to-school came and went and Labor Day Weekend is here! Austin is ALWAYS ready to celebrate any occasion, here are a few ways to spend your weekend with the fam:
The Sacred Springs Kite Exhibition-September 2- 8am-Austin Central Library 710 W. César Chávez St, 78701: Art4Water’s inaugural program, The Sacred Springs Kite Exhibition, is a collaboration between The Watershed Association, Terry Zee Lee and 30+ national artists in the creation of water-inspired art kites. Hanging like an oasis in the sky, The Sacred Springs Kite Exhibition brings together diverse communities around the respect for Texas’ great springs–their history, their value, and the threats to their existence. Through this exhibition, the Watershed Association partners with Terry Zee Lee, a renowned facilitator and curator of kite exhibitions, to raise awareness of the vital connection of water to life. With Jacob’s Well as one example, “Sacred Springs” seeks to float a collection of groundwater icons in the sky.

The Greatest Show-Typhoon Texas-Saturday and Sunday- Water Park admission required-Do not miss out on The Greatest Show this Labor Day Weekend. With last years runner up on Americas Got Talent, Aidan Bryant making a high flying appearance! Join us for midway games, hand-spun cotton candy, jugglers, contortionists, and more this Labor Day Weekend. TWO SHOWS daily at 2pm and 5pm.
Free Yoga at Zilker- September 3-11-12:30-This event is for people who want to get outside, meet new people, move their bodies, and/or be in community with others. All are welcome! Free/Donation-Based Yoga at Zilker Park! Led by Adam Horn, Certified Yoga Teacher. If you have any interest in getting outdoors, meeting new people, and/or yoga, this is perfect for you. All levels of yoga are welcome. Each flow will be taught in an accessible way taking into account the different levels of expertise. Before and after yoga, people are encouraged to hang out, chat, and meet new people. I, Adam, look forward to meeting everyone and guiding us through yoga at the park! Bring: Yoga mat, yoga accessories (e.g., yoga blocks) (optional), water, frisbee, football, or any other activity you’d like to do post yoga, bathing suit if you’d like to jump in Barton springs or something of the likes after.

Anytime Austin Market at Meanwhile Brewing-Sunday, September 4, 2022-12:00PM- Free-Happy three day weekend, y’all. We’re celebrating Labor Day Weekend with Anytime Austin Market! Shop with local vendors for a variety of vintage & handmade goods from 12-5pm. The taproom is pouring cold beer, food trucks are open, and the playscape is ready to entertain the kiddos!
Outdoor Music and Movement Storytime-Windsor Park Branch Library-September 5-9:30 am – 10:00 am- This is a reoccurring event, but an awesome way to celebrate Labor Day Weekend with the kiddos. Bring your favorite little one to stretch, sing, dance & explore music with rhythm instruments! Recommended for ages 5 and under
Labor Day Concert- FREE-Centennial Plaza, Round Rock-September 5-6-9pm-A free Labor Day Concert featuring the Blues Crawlers from 6pm – 7pm and then the Classic Hiphop Live from 7:30 pm – 9pm at Centennial Plaza. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy this fun and free concert on the lawn provided by the AFM of Austin. Face Painting by Lisa and Balloons by Tony with Food and Drinks trucks will be available.
Lick Honest Ice Creams-Mueller-September 5- Drop by Lick Honest Ice Creams on Monday for a Labor Day BOGO special – buy one scoop of ice cream, get one free!
Thinkery-Mueller-September 5- While Thinkery is typically not open on Mondays during the school year, they will be open on Labor Day (Monday, September 5) from 10 AM – 5 PM
