Mom guilt can come in hot if you feel like you’re not doing “enough” each season. Let’s be honest, a day at a pumpkin patch can cost upwards of a car payment and is just not a sustainable option EVERY weekend. Luckily, there is plenty of FREE Fall fun in Austin. Home Depot Kids DIY Workshops-The first Saturday of each month-9am-12- A great time for your kiddos to work with their hands. A great way to spend part of your weekend learning from some of the best! Check your local store for details.

The Thinkery-Mueller- Every Sun from 3-5 p.m- The premiere kiddo’s museum in Austin opens the doors to the community for free EVERY Sunday. As you can imagine, it gets crowded quick. Book a time slot way in advance. 

Wimberley Market Days-Open 1st Saturday of each month Through December-7am-3pm-There’s so much to see at Wimberley Market Day that it’s hard to know where to begin. Of course there’s plenty of ground to cover with 19 acres of shopping opportunities. RAIN OR SHINE.

Pups and Pints-The Arboretum-September 13-5-7pm-Bring the family (and pups!) for a night out at The Arboretum. Enjoy live music, pet vendors, and beer samplings from local Austin breweries. The event is FREE but registration is recommended.

Pecan Street Festival Downtown- September 17 & 18- FREE One of the largest, and longest-running, arts, crafts and music festivals in the nation. Tons of vendors and live music all weekend long!  

Austin Museum Day- Various Museums- September 18- Enjoy dozens of Austin Area Museums for free in a celebration of art, culture, history, music, nature, science, and play! Check participating museums HERE. P.S. First Sunday at the Bullock means there’s free admission on the first Sun of every month!

Texas Bookfest- Downtown-November 5-6- The 2022 Festival Weekend will take place at the State Capitol and surrounding streets. The Festival Weekend is free and open to the public, with 250+ authors of the year’s best books. The full author lineup will be announced in September, and the schedule will be released in October.

Waterloo Greenway Creek Show-Beginning at 9th Street- November 11-20. Reserve free tickets in advance. Each year, Creek Show commissions site-specific work by Austin-based architects, landscape architects, artists, and designers, chosen through a public Call for Ideas hosted in collaboration with AIA Austin. Artists explore different themes related to Waterloo Greenway that range from history to hydrology and beyond.
