Who doesn’t love Pizza? Pizza originated in Italy in the 10th century and is now a worldwide favorite! There are so many different types and ways to make and eat pizza. When eating pizza, there should be no judging. We all eat it in different ways and eat all different types. You do you when it comes to pizza, don’t let others change your mind 😉 Luckily, there are so many good choices in town-it’s hard to pick! Here’s some of Austin’s best pizza…something for everyone!

Craig O’s Pizza & Pastaria– 4 Convenient Locations!

With locations in Lakeway, Balcones, Onion Creek, and Sunset Valley Craig O’s is YOUR neighborhood pizza spot. Their sauces, dough, pastas and dressings are made from scratch daily-and are to die for! With over 18 specialty pies to choose from (including gluten-free options) there’s a pizza for everyone in the family. Their extensive menu hits all the sweet spots, from salads and classic starters to low-carb Power Bowls.

Our kiddos LOVED the pizza Christmas trees this year, and as a mama, I love to see Craig O’s give back to the community. Their no-hassle fundraisers have made more than $100,000 for different organizations and schools! Pro Tip: The kids will LOVE the mini arcade at Craig O’s Lakeway!

Craig O’s Lakeway has a mini arcade with Pac-Man, racing games, and pinball!

East Side Pies – Austin, TX

East Side Pies now has three locations in Austin and one in the Airport. If you are a fan of thin crust, then this is your pie!

East Side Pies takes pride in their ingredients and community. They work with local farms and ranches to give you the pizza you deserve. From their dough to the meats and their sauces, all ingredients are made fresh daily. They have a wide variety of Specialty Pies, but you could always build your own if needed. My favorite is “The Buscemi,” which has Italian sausage, roasted onions & bell peppers, jalapeños, and cilantro.

VIA 313 – Genuine Detroit-Style Pizza

VIA 313 now has locations all over Austin and the ‘burbs! If you’re a fan of Detroit-style pizza, then this is your place! I’ve never been to Detroit, but after having this pizza, it is now on my bucket list!

Detroit-style pizza is known for its rectangular shape and sauce across the top. It’s baked in a heavy pan deep dish, and the light, focaccia-like dough develops a golden crunch on the bottom.  Then the cheese is spread to the edge so you can enjoy some with every bite. The sauce is spooned on before serving, ensuring the cheese and dough crisp up perfectly during the baking. Yummy!

The Original Pepperoni and the Ambassador Bridge are my personal favorites!!

Home Slice Pizza – Austin/Houston

Home Slice has been serving NY-Style Pizza by the slice or whole pies since 2005, and they now have two locations in Austin. The slices are enormous, the crust is thin, and the flavors explode in your mouth!

The location on Congress has both a dine-in and a walk-up area for a quick grab-and-go opportunity. The place up north is a bigger, family-friendly setting with a cute little play space for the kids to enjoy while the pizza is cooking!

My two personal favorites are the Margherita Pizza & Pepperoni and Mushrooms.

Tony C’s Beer Garden

Tony C’s is surprisingly one of our family’s favorites! If you haven’t tried this place out yet, I highly recommend it.

It’s an Award Winning New York Style Pizza and Italian American Food in a fast-casual beer garden setting. They now have locations in Round Rock & Austin on Anderson Lane near Shoal Creek. They have great weekday specials and plenty of seating. You can also catch all your favorite sports while dining. The price point on this place is precisely what our family needs.

I haven’t ventured into all types of pizza yet, but my favorite is “The Donato,” it has Italian sausage, pizza sauce, coal-fired peppers, black olives, and fresh mozzarella.

Pinthouse Pizza | Craft Brewpub | Austin Texas

When Pinthouse was first recommended as a pizza place, I doubted it. But OMG, all their pizzas have been so good! I love that they make everything in-house, by hand. When available, they focus on locally sourced, organic ingredients. By working with local vendors and making food from scratch, they take pride in offering high-quality food with a commitment to sustainability.

Their pizzas are unique, with such great flavors. We are substantial Pinthouse fans! They serve Classic Pies and Specialty pies, and every month they have an “Off the map pie,’ don’t let the different combinations fool you. They are different but oh so good! I love that they offer a cauliflower crust!! You can also build your pie, and they offer a pizza meal kit to make at home, which is a fun activity to do with the littles.

I have tried all their pizzas, and it’s hard choosing a favorite. Still, if I had to pick, it would be the “Bahn Mi,” it’s made with Creme fraiche, house cheese blend, local sausage, jalapeños, pickled onions and carrots, cucumbers, cilantro, and Sriracha. Yes, it’s a mouthful that you won’t forget!
