Okay Bridezillas, this one’s for you! Spring has sprung and love is in the air. While most girls dream of their weddings their whole lives, planning the details is an important part!  There are several things to keep in mind while searching for that perfect venue. Things like budget, guest count, and location are all important but there are some other things to remember when you are on your search. If you plan to hire an event planner, they will help cover a lot for these but if you are planning yourself then this is for you!

Be sure to discuss what packages the venue offers. Some offer a full package including overnight Bridal Suites, Catering, the DJ, all tables and chairs, reception area and more, while others only offer the building itself. A lot of venues have requirements to use their vendors, but some are more lenient and allow outside vendors or even let the wedding party handle. When all else fails DC Productions for the win! They can help every step of the way, from coordination, DJ services and photo booths!

If you plan to have alcohol, learning the venue’s alcohol policy is also very important. Do they provide the drinks and TABC Certified bartender or are you responsible for that? While majority of venues do require a certified bartender, even if not, I always recommend hiring someone who is TABC Certified to help maintain the alcohol consumption.

Since majority of us are Mama’s here, another key item to confirm is if there are any rules or requirements for children. Some venues will require one “assigned babysitter” per every said number of kids below a certain age. Others request kids stay away from certain areas. While some happy couples prefer no kids be present on their big day, others want all the little flower girls and ring bearers included so be sure to know what to expect when it comes to the littles!

Another important thing to consider is Wedding Insurance. While liability coverage is required by many venues, this valuable coverage can protect you from financial liability arising out of the wedding event. Most programs offer a package, that will extend coverage for the Rehearsal Dinner, Wedding, and Reception. These can include liquor liability and even event cancellation/ postponement coverage. When it comes to the dresses and outfits, give yourself plenty of time to order and for alterations. Don’t forget that some members of the bridal party might need extra reminders as well. Also, assign those members duties on the wedding day, things like making sure they have the rings and bouquets.

Finally, don’t get so caught up in the planning that you forget to enjoy the process. At the end of it all, it’s about celebrating the love between you and your partner. Everything will come together, and the night will fly by.

So here’s to finding that love worth celebrating and to a long & happy marriage.
