It’s almost that time of year again! That special day when we honor the Mothers in our lives, the women who do so much for us day in and day out, and what better way to start the day than with a delicious meal. Although downtown boasts some wonderful places to grab Mother’s Day brunch, we have some gems up here in North Austin as well! Whether you’re getting together with your mom friends or gathering with your kiddos, there’s a little something for everyone on this list.

Taquero Mucho-Taquero Mucho is known for their perfectly pink aesthetic and Michoacán inspired, authentic Mexican fare. I recently had brunch here and thought to myself, “this would be such a fun place to come for Mother’s Day”. The ambiance just feels like a celebration of womanhood. The restaurant features a unique brunch menu, craft cocktails, margaritas and micheladas made with fresh-squeezed juice and a number of creative drinks, including several CBD-inspired cocktails. I recommend the Chicken and Waffles, Queso Birria Tacos and the Taquitos de Papa con Queso.

Colleen’s Kitchen- Colleen’s Kitchen is another great Mother’s Day Brunch spot. They serve southern inspired fare with lots of soul. Located in Mueller, the atmosphere feels very family friendly, the perfect place to gather around a big table with your loved ones, sharing great conversation and delicious food. I love their selection of Little Biscuits, small but delicious and well priced breakfast sandwiches. If you’re in the mood for something more filling, I’d suggest the Yardbird sandwich or the Full Southern Breakfast – don’t forget a side of skillet cornbread and bacon wrapped dates. A truly decadent way to spend Mother’s Day.

The Peached Tortilla- The Peached Tortilla offers a unique dining experience featuring modern Asian comfort food with a southern twist. A casual ambiance with fare inspired by Chef Eric Silverstein’s childhood growing up in Asia. They offer a creative brunch menu with items like the Short Rib Benedict, Korean Steak and Eggs and BBQ Pork Buns. For the family who likes to enjoy brunch with a twist.

First Watch-First Watch is a North Austin favorite, with multiple locations in the area. A great place to gather with family of all ages, offering classic breakfast fare and lots of options for the health nuts in the group. The menu is extensive, but some items that caught my eye were the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, Smoked Salmon and Roasted Vegetable Frittata and the Chickichanga. It can take awhile to get seated here, so I recommend signing on to the waitlist before you arrive – just click the ‘Get In Line’ tab on their website.

Taverna-A great option for brunch if you’re planning to go to the Domain NORTHSIDE for some Mother’s Day shopping! Taverna is a warm and inviting neighborhood restaurant offering a truly Italian experience. Their weekend brunch menu features classic dishes like Eggs Benedict and Chicken and Waffles alongside Italian favorites like Meatballs al Sugo, Eggplant Parmigiana and delicious pizzas cooked in a wood stone oven.

Another great Domain NORTHSIDE option is Valencia’s Tex-Mex Garage. Treat Mom to the ultimate Mother’s Day with a delicious, made-from-scratch brunch and Penny Mimosa refills until 3pm! Each mom will receive a complimentary rose to make her feel extra special! Valencia’s will be offering their regular brunch menu until 3pm and their dinner menu from 3-9pm. Join them for Weekend Happy Hour every Saturday and Sunday from 3-6pm. Reservations are available now!

Paul Martin’s Austin Grill- Paul Martin’s will be open early serving brunch from 10am- 2pm offering new dishes on their a la carte brunch menu, like their Crab Cake Benedict and NY Steak & Eggs — both celebration-worthy. Raise a toast to mom with their DIY Mimosas or sharable cocktail pitchers. Their 2-course Prime Rib Special for $46 as well as a limited version of their main menu and a children’s menu will be also available.
