Happy Mother’s Day weekend! How are you celebrating? With so many amazing events going on in our city, it can be hard to pick and choose what to fill your family’s calendar with. We’re helping out with a little round up of our fave events this weekend in Austin!
This Weekend in Austin: May 12-14
Ballet Austin’s Cinderella | May 12- 14 | Long Center
Ballet Austin performs Stephen Mills’ Cinderella, an enduring rags-to-princess story that offers the promise of “happily ever after!” This treasured fairy tale of perseverance and love includes a compiled score from Alexander Glazunov and live accompaniment from the Austin Symphony Orchestra. Add a dose of humor to the majesty of classical ballet, and Cinderella becomes the perfect way to close Ballet Austin’s 2022/23 Season with four performances on Mother’s Day weekend.
Bollywood in the Park | Friday May 12 | 7pm |Round Rock Ampitheater
Come join us for an evening in the park on Friday, May 12th at 7pm for a FREE, family-friendly, Mother’s Day Celebration! Experience the stories from ancient India celebrating Mothers through dance and musical theater! We can’t wait to share what our students are working on! There will be dance, music, vendors, food and more!
Showtime in the Park | Friday May 12 | 5-9:30 |Pease Park
Impact Arts will present Showtime in the Park, a family-friendly event kicking off Summer Stock Austin’s 2023 Season on Friday, May 12, 2023 from 5:00-9:30 p.m. in Pease Park
Pease Park will be transformed into a musical wonderland for all ages. Attendees will experience live musical performances by young Austin artists showcasing Summer Stock Austin’s upcoming season to include GREASE and THE WIZARD OF OZ.
Activities include learning a dance from The Wizard of Oz, face painting, live performances, an Emerald City photo backdrop for a photo snap, and more. Snacks and drinks will be available on site. Additionally, event goers will have the opportunity to win tickets for the upcoming 2023 Summer Stock Season, along with additional prizes and more.
“Showtime in the Park is a celebration of the arts and our vibrant community,” said Ginger Morris, Director of Impact Arts. “Pease Park offers the perfect atmosphere to enjoy Austin’s finest young talent. I hope everyone will come out and grab a bag of popcorn for the ultimate cinematic experience as we kick off the 2023 Summer Stock Season.”

We’ve got your Mother’s Day plans for you! We’re teaming up with Antonelli’s and Good Juju Flowers to offer a Mother’s Day picnic and bouquet to surprise Mom with a lovely day in the Garden.
Baby Play Class | Saturday May 13 | 1:45-4pm | Mi Casa es Tu Casa
Come along and learn in these exclusive workshops how to support your baby in their first year of development! Pediatric specialists, Kristi Hammerle and Elaine Nguyen will share activities and strategies to promote purposeful play, healthy communication and motor development throughout YEAR ONE!

Second Saturdays are for Families | Saturday May 13| Laguna Gloria
n anticipation of a new work of art coming to Laguna Gloria on May 13 by the artist duo Celeste, we will be experimenting with fabric painting inspired by the landscape around us and the beautiful murals created by Maria Fernanda Camarena and Gabriel Rosas Alemán.
Want more? There is more! We will also host the Austin Public Library’s Art Smart program featuring stories, hand kites and mural art that explores themes around cultural diversity! Don’t miss out! Here is the itinerary for the day:

Art-o-Rama | Saturday May 13 | 1-4pm| Dougherty Arts Center
The Dougherty Arts Center’s 4th Annual Art-O-Rama event is taking a seriously surreal turn! Step outside the box and enjoy all things outrageous, fantastical, and renegade. Experience interactive art installations, hands-on activities, and live performance art by local artists. Win prizes, snag fun swag, munch on whimsical treats, and remind yourself what makes Austin such a weird and wonderful place. This event is FREE and open to all!

CelebrASIA | Saturday May 13 | 11a-3p |THIS SATURDAY! The City of Austin’s Asian American Resource Center (AARC) is hosting its 10th annual CelebrASIA Austin event on Saturday, May 13, 2023 from 11am to 3pm! The family-friendly festival is free and open to the public and celebrates Asian Pacific American (APA) Heritage Month. This family-friendly event offers performances, food vendors, exhibits, and cultural experiences for the entire family. The 2023 festival will commemorate 10 years of the AARC being rooted in community and culture!
