Free Summer Meals for Kids in and around Austin

Although Summer is exciting for some, many students will go without consistent meals. Children need nutritious meals to learn, grow, and thrive—even when school is out. Feed the Children says a staggering 1 in 5 American children is food-insecure. Here is a list of local school districts offering Free Summer Meals for Kids in and around Austin. The schedule and sites are subject to change, according to the district. Please refer to district websites.

Austin ISD

Thanks to federally funded Texas Department of Agriculture meal programs, Austin ISD provides free breakfast and lunch for students at many schools throughout the summer.

Who qualifies for free summer meals:

• Students participating in on-site summer programs at eligible schools.
• Any child in the community younger than 19.
• Enrolled students with disabilities up to 21 years old.

The meals are served in the cafeteria and must be eaten on campus during the designated service times. View all meal sites, dates and times online here.

Any child under the age of 18 can get a meal-they do not need to register.

River Oaks Elementary: June 3-7; June 10-14; June 17-20; June 24-27

Ruth Barron Elementary: June 3 through Aug. 9

Timmerman Elementary: June 3-27

Weiss High School: June 3-19 (Monday through Friday); June 20-27

Wieland Elementary: June 3-18 and also July 8-23
