I love helping my girls get ready for back to school. We shop for supplies and clothes together-making it a fun adventure. We enjoy picking out colorful notebooks and cool backpacks. I may grab myself one of the retro trapper keepers for old times sake. We also organize their desks and make sure they have everything they need. It’s great to see their excitement and know they feel prepared. Spending this time together is so special and helps us all start the school year with confidence.

In addition to buying all the fun school ‘stuff’; I think it’s equally important to mentally prepare our kiddos.

1. Establish a Routine: Begin setting a regular sleep and wake-up schedule a few weeks before classes start to help kids adjust.

2. Review Academic Material: Go over last year’s notes or use free online resources and educational games to refresh their memory.

3. Visit the School: Take a trip to the school to familiarize them with the environment, especially if it’s a new school.

4. Organize School Supplies: Use existing supplies at home to organize their school materials and ensure everything is ready.

5. Read Together: Encourage daily reading with books from the library or free online resources to boost their literacy skills.
