While Austin may not be the Christmas capital of Texas (yet), we take our holiday pop-up bar scene VERY seriously. Throughout the years, a number of ATX bars have started partaking in getting into the holiday spirit so much so that there is no way I could cover all of the pop-up spots in one blog. It appears that Austin is truly starting to make a name for itself in the Lonestar state for spreading Christmas cheer for us grownups. Whether you are going out for date night or a night out with the girls, grab your holiday sweater and treat yourself at one (or a few) of these holiday pop-ups!

Pop Up Bars

Cosmic Saltillo’s Candy Land themed Christmas Pop-up

My literal childhood dreams coming to life with this new Candy Land Christmas pop-up bar. With an aesthetic just like like the nostalgic board game we played as kids, you can get a number of Candy :and themed drinks from a board game esc menu. I’m so excited to try the drinks here and relive my childhood fantasies. AND for you dog lovers out there, this popup is dog friendly!

Mozarts

For years Mozarts has been known for their iconic light shows, but this year they decided to do something a little different and I’m ecstatic for the change. This year, Instead of reserving a table, you’ll buy a ticket for a 2 and a half our time block where you will have access to a light show, drinks, kid friendly activities, along with a Christmas style market! It’s honestly so cute and I cannot wait to check out the new layout. If you have a group, I’d definitely recommend looking into renting a boat to see the Festival of Lights from the water – they even have a little mini light tunnel in the water, which is just so cool. I do recommend booking your tickets early for this experience as tickets traditionally sell out fast.

Winter Wonderglam at The Gibson Bar

The Gibson bar is well known for going all out for the holidays, and this year there is no exception. This 21 and up bar is hosting Santa himself Friday, 12/6 along with a number of other fun festive events that you can find on their Instagram.

Miracle on 5th street at The Eleanor

This bar is a very over the top Christmas bar that will not disappoint. It definitely has a more nostalgic feel to it and some of the most charming and creative cocktails. This place gets packed so definitely plan to make a reservation before you go.

Lala’s Little Nugget

There is no way I could leave this one off the list, given that at Lala’s celebrates Christmas all year round. If you are a bit farther south go visit Lala’s South Pole off of West Gate.

Kitty Cohen’s

We obviously cannot forget about Hanukkah, and thankfully Kitty Cohen’s has us covered again this year with their annual Hanukkah popup, “Get Lit!” Here, you can enjoy holiday movies, Hanukkah inspired drinks and more!

Sippin Santa at Nickel City

Nickel City is another bar that takes Christmas VERY seriously and in my opinion has all the right retro Christmas vibes. It is recommended you make a reservation ahead of time if you have a party of 6 or more. This bar is a true reminder of old Austin and so happy that they are continuing their Christmas traditions.

Rudolph’s Roadhouse

At Lefty’s – is a pop-up bar on the east side filled with retro Christmas decor and fun themed weekly events! With Tinsel and Tarot Wednesdays and Not-So-Silent Night Saturdays – you are sure to have a great time!

Where: 1813 C E. Sixth St., Austin

As mentioned above, this list doesn’t even scratch the surface of all of the holiday pop-up bars this wonderful city has to offer, so PLEASE add in the comments the best ones that I missed!
