A’Lelia Bundles, author and the great-great-granddaughter of Madame CJ Walker, America’s first Black millionaire, will discuss the legacy and lessons of her famous ancestor.
Author, trainer and consultant, Dr. Dennis Kimbro, will share the success secrets of Black millionaires. Kimbro is a master trainer for the Napoleon Hill Foundation and recipient of the Dale Carnegie Personal Achievement Award.
Dr. Juliet E.K. Walker will discuss the history of Black business, the subject of her 2009 book. Professor Walker is the founder of the Center of Black Business, History, Entrepreneurship and Technology; her work is featured in the Smithsonian and she is completing a book on Oprah Winfrey for the Harvard Business School Press.
For those still working on their first million, Cheryl Creuzot, Meredith Moore Crosby and Dr. Janice Sumler-Edmond discuss how to get your career moving in the right direction and how to grow your assets so they can work for you.
Start Up! Kids Club, an Austin nonprofit, will conduct an interactive workshop for kids/teens looking to start or develop their business. The festival will again offer a children’s story time, which includes free books and snacks.
The festival continues to support the business of literature. Festival organizers invite new and emerging authors to have breakfast with Troy Johnson, the founder and director of the nation’s largest African American online bookstore. Johnson will discuss self-publishing, marketing and distribution.
