HAAM Day brings all of Austin together each year to sing praise for keeping our musicians alive and well. Austin businesses and music venues host over 200 performances from local musicians all over the city and donate a portion of their daily sales to support HAAM. Our biggest fundraiser, HAAM Day lets customers, businesses and music lovers across Austin do their part to help Austin musicians and feel the satisfaction of contributing to an important piece of the fabric of the city. On HAAM Day 2018, we beat our goal of raising $565,000. Thank you, Austin! We are humbled by your support.
Heath Alliance for Austin Musicians provides access to affordable health care for Austin’s low-income working musicians, with a focus on prevention and wellness. Many Austin musicians are self-employed and have no access to health insurance or basic health care. They often work multiple jobs and struggle to pay for food, clothing and shelter, with nothing left for health care.
That’s where we come in. By resolving challenges such as long-neglected teeth to hearing loss, heart problems and depression, HAAM and our partners improve and save musicians’ lives and enhance Austin’s economy and quality of life. Austin is the Live Music Capital of the World, and we aim to keep it that way.
We have helped over 4,900 musicians access over 56,000 healthcare appointments valued at over $44 million dollars since we began in 2005. These include routine dental work, doctor visits and prescriptions, psychiatric counseling sessions, eye exams, out-patient procedures, specialist referrals, hearing screenings and more.
