If you like being downtown Austin , enjoy sunbathing, and are looking for a way to cool down– Barton Springs Pool is your place! Before you pack up the family–or head there for a solo dip–here are a few things you should know before you go!
- They are open every day–except Thursday–from 5am-10pm. Thursdays they are closed for cleaning.
- You’ll find this unique pool located right in Zilker Park; 2201 William Barton Dr, Austin, TX 78746.
- The underground springs stays around 68-70 degrees, perfect for going on a hot hot day, AKA any day in Texas for the next few months.
- For Austin Residents is usually $5 to get in, and it will be best to pre-purchase your ticket through the APP which is ATXswims. You can pay cash when you get there, or there are kiosks where you can purchase your ticket.
- The only time there is not a fee is 5am-8am. If you’re looking for some me time that’s a great time to go and watch the sunrise!
During the weekends they have free park and shuttle buses from 12-8:30pm at 505 Barton Springs Rd. There is also plenty of parking in surrounding areas but you might have to walk since they are in the middle of doing a lot of renovations.

I have gone a few times this year already, with my younger kids, the family, with a journaling club, alone and feel like it has more of an adult vibe! While there are plenty of kids and any age is welcome, there are no tables and lots of unlevel ground. Unless you find prime seating under the shade, it can be very hot depending on the time you are going. But if you’re looking for a fun date, some me time, or mom girlfriends day this will definitely be that spot! And there are so many close restaurants around there that you can stop afterwards!
