Instagram @theheadhouseatxBorn and raised in India, Aditi is now an honorary Texan after spending 11+ years split between Dallas and Austin. A former marketing manager turned fourth grade teacher, she now works at home as a unicorn. Seriously. Magical thinking is the only possible explanation for how her family thinks she could pull off all they ask of her! She loves travel, reading, running, blowing off steam with friends, being outside, and the Don Juan taco with a passion. She can usually be found biting off more than she can chew and, of course, writing about it. Check her out at www.mycontrolexperiment.com or monthly in Austin Family magazine.Alison is a lover of boybands, cheese, and a good leather jacket (not always in that order). I’m not always this happy. I’m actually moody as hell, MUCH more introverted than I come off, and highly intuitive of how I am perceived and how others feel. Many people call these descriptions a phenomena called, “empathic”; I don’t use that term, because I believe it’s trendy and also believe such a thing is an innate ability of ALL humans when they take a look at people and the world around them with a dash of something very simple to understand yet not always simple to do... Experience. I’ve had a plethora of them, on all sides of the spectrum from being a single mum at the tender age of 21; marriage, divorce, abortion, miscarriage. Homelessness. Giving up. starting over repeat. Developing multiple streams of income through real estate, modeling and acting, my own holistic based business as a personal chef and doula. I co -founded a platform last year called, Birthing Our Ancestors, which gives an option to women and families to use art as a medium to heal from womb trauma ie. abortion, miscarriage, still birth. I’ve created events centered around this topic and involve everyone including my son. My parenting style is honestly, not much different from my on- going experimentational style. As I get older and learn more about myself, I find myself experimenting with ideologies and patterns that I may have judged as being too conservative or “staged” in my opinion. Now, at almost 25 I find joy in experimenting with these things and inviting my son to involve himself in what I once may have called “faux experiences”. After all, to create a well rounded human who nourishes themselves in all the possibilities of who and what they are, one can not only understand the outlandish possibilities of human existence one must also understand the many colors that already surround them. No matter how boring or faux they may seem to me. As an Austin Mom Blog contributor you can expect to read about my journeys on the spectrum. As an entrepreneur, as a mum, my ongoing lifestyle changes, as a lover, a support system for my clients, and revolutionary for my own personal experiences and the shared experiences of others.
